Wytwb is a way better TAYF. Production, songwriting, maturity etc. it’s a great fucking album. Probably their best

I think What’s It Feel Like To Be A Ghost? is their clear best opener.

I think I put TAYF and WYWTB at 1a and 1b. I can admit WYWTB is probably the better written/performed album, but I enjoy the rawness and energy of TAYF. WYWTB scores major points for being the 2nd album of a band that lost two important members after a hell of a unique first release and somehow not losing a step

180 By Summer is a TOP 5 of their entire catalog.

A Decade Under the Influence is also in TOP 5.

WYWTB is cool but it also felt like trying to recreate the magic of TAYF and not quite being able to

Not to imagine a timeline without their best album. But, I sometimes wonder what their second album would’ve been like if the line-up hadn’t changed. Maybe it would’ve still been their best, but a very different version of it.

Either way, they were primed to take the raw elements of TAYF and mature them just enough to the peak version of their classic sound.

Agreeeee. For a long time 180 was my absolute favorite but as I’ve gotten older I get more disappointed that the back half of the song all just meshes together, but the first half, oh boy. Still a top 5 song regardless.

I like TAYF plenty but outside of YKHID, Ghost Man, and YSLS, I think WYWTB is definitively better, without question.

Only record that could top WYWTB is Happiness Is. That album felt like an instant modern scene classic to me.

Was inclined to agree with the first post, but then the second one is more accurate. I can't remember which song is which. One i really like now, the othe/s not so much. Union, new american clasic, and i am fred astaire cuz for the longest time, i only new like 5 songs from the album (first four and 180)
Btw 180 and Phasers are 2 of my most favorite TBS songs of all.
Edit: number 5 with a bullet might be a weaker one too :end edit

And i agree with the last post about wywtb and tayf as 1a and 1b. Maybe even add Louder Now as 1c, cuz there are some gems on there as well! But yeah, TAYF...well, i just generally like a lot of bands' first albums. This one is no different. I want to say there is also the nostalgia factor, but that might have more to do with the visuals (videos) and hearing ABOUT the band, since I didn't actually hear the band until WYWTB had been out, which was my first heard record by them

this is NONSENSE stop this now

  21. This convo is making me want to revisit WYWTB. Probably the album I've listened to the least out of their entire discography, and I don't know why as it has some bangers. Louder Now caters to my tastes much more though.

Little Devotional is the only song I don't love on WYWTB but it's still not bad. Definitely my favorite TBS album

This thread reminds me of something my late grandfather used to always say -

"There are two types of people in this world: Those who needed to look up the lyrics for the line 'You’re the poster boy, their selling point, the focus for their new campaign' and big fat liars."
