I am looking forward to the following for the Eagles:

    - All the Georgia players. Is Nakobe Dean actually good and in full control of the defense at the main LB? Are both Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis in good conditioning and dominating camp? How is Nolan Smith being utilized?

    - The RG battle between Cam Jurgens and Tyler Steen, perhaps even Jack Driscoll.

    - The safety competition between Terrell Edmunds, Reed Blankenship, and Sydney Brown.

    - The RB rotation between D’Andre Swift, Rashaad Penny, Kenny Gainwell, and Boston Scott.

    - The new coordinators, but especially Sean Desai.

I wish people would shut up about the lions. When they don't meet these expectations all my Bear fan friends are going to come at me like I was the one spouting a lion ascension to greatness.

    Hopefully seeing:
Geno continue to look good and build upon last year's performance
JSN to look the part and be a stud
What the safety situation looks like with the addition of Julian Love
Just seeing Wagner in general, just admiring him

Do I love Lawrence’s prototypical build and arm for the position? Yes. But I’d trade that for Burrow’s ability to read the field.

ironically the special thing about Lawrence to me is actually more of a mental thing than a physical thing. It’s pocket presence.

He’s certainly not the fastest or most agile QB in the NFL… but he senses defenders in the pocket so well, that he knows exactly where to move to avoid pressure and always has a confident back up plan where he can throw the ball EARLY.

Imo Lawrence’s great arm and great athleticism for his size, wouldn’t matter nearly as much if he didn’t have that skill. That opens him up to use that arm even when the other team is winning in the trenches, he’s not like a Ryan Tannehill who is only good when everything is perfect. He avoids negative plays and keeps the offense functioning, clean pocket or not. His athleticism wouldn’t matter without pocket presence either - he’s not fast enough to Houdini out of sacks the hard way, he has to know where to sidestep in order to do it. And very often, he does.

so imo you gotta be rare in at least one mental skill to have the potential to be a borderline elite QB. And I am legit comfortable giving Burrow more credit, because what Trevor CANT do is see Tee Higgins covered well downfield and, instead of forcing the ball in there at the last minute and trying to hope for the best with a bullet… Burrow has already thrown the ball 15 yards northeast of him, exactly to the inch where Higgins tends to slow down and jump back shoulder when he’s covered. Burrow already knows how Higgins is gonna approach the ball in that situation, and he would’ve thrown that ball differently for Chase. He floated the ball early with confidence the same way he would if Higgins was wide open.

That’s a crazy skill. That’s like, Peyton to Wayne shit, knowing a guy that well. I think this skill of Burrow’s is why Jefferson and Chase came into the NFL as polished, nuanced receivers who know how to communicate in-depth with a QB.

i'm not worried about the defense under Wink, if everyone can be healthy (esp. Azeez) I think the Giants can/will be an upper tier defense, just need to really see some cohesion on offense. need DJ to be comfortable letting it fly to some of these guys. hard to watch a game full of 8 yard dump offs. also looking forward to seeing him throw it to Waller.

And note that I’m still not comparing Burrow to Brady. Only Mahomes can be mentioned in that sentence

Last year, they went into the season with Miles Sanders, Kenny Gainwell, and Boston Scott. They claimed Trey Sermon in season, but he was a healthy scratch for most of the year.

So I’m really interested to see how it breaks down because four active RBs on game day is a lot, unless someone is a returner on special teams, but that was Britain Covey’s job last year and he was solid at it and still around.

Gainwell is a lock because he’s the only one under contract next year and the team seems to really like him from everything I’ve heard. Of the four of them, Scott has the most guaranteed money and has gotten snaps as a returner before so he may actually have a path to making the roster with those things in mind. I would think that Swift would make the roster, but they traded a 2025 day three pick for him. They really have next to nothing invested in him. Meanwhile, Penny is guaranteed only $500k, but the Eagles did kind of prioritize him in free agency. That was obviously before trading for Swift though.

I wouldn’t be surprised if all four make the roster, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if they one of Penny, Swift, or Scott gets cut and Trey Sermon makes the roster as the RB4. Sirianni has weirdly talked him up and say how much they love him even though he was healthy scratched for most of last year.

If one gets cut, my guess would be Penny, which would be unfortunate because I love Penny and I think he could be a beast in this offense so long as he can stay healthy (yeah yeah I get it).

It was a follow up to this. I don’t “rank QBs” per se but this is how I tier them. & explaining why I like Burrow more than Herbert or Lawrence atm
