I unashamedly love M: I 2. It was my favorite until Ghost Protocol came around and the series has gotten continually better since.

 

It recently dawned on me rewatching all of the previous films though is 2 is the only one where Ethan isn't disavowed or on the run from the CIA or IMF in the midst of the mission at hand.

 

You'd think they'd eventually just stop disavowing him.

The best Tom Cruise line is from “Collateral”: “Hey homie, is that my briefcase?”

The one downside about Cruise doing just “M:I”/McQuarrie movies is we likely won’t get another role where he’s the bad guy.

 

That might be his best performance.

I love Jerry Maguire but apparently Cuba Gooding Jr is a piece of shit

I only saw Vanilla Sky once and barely remember it. I've seen Jerry Maguire (and Say Anything and Almost Famous) at least three times (but haven't revisited any other Cameron Crowe films)

 

The Last Samurai and Valkyrie are good too.

Never looked at that way but I can see your point. I haven't seen it in years but I remember enjoying it at the time.

 

What the hell is going on in American theatres, these last couple of pages reading about bad experiences in them is so disheartening. Never had a bad experience in the theatre and, this is showing my age a little bit, I've seen every M:I movie opening weekend.

Dead Reckoning 1 is amazing also except the whole Ilsa dying bullshit.

 

Ken Watanabe is so good in Last Samurai, though.

 

Decided to read a bit about The Last Samurai and found Watanabe's take on it.

 

Just watched Collateral for the first time a few days ago; great stuff. What a wild look with that grey/white hair, haha

 

Between this and the daytime, this is why it looked way better than the train sequence in Dial of Destiny.

 

Practical effects, who woulda thought that would result in a better product

 

It's humpty dumpty for sure.

 

I love when you can tell it's practical. His bike jump was so good because you could tell it was real.

 

I actually managed to see this without seeing any of the trailers but the bike jump was shown so many times all over the place for like 2 years, wish they didn’t show that
