that's only if you're not also buying those games afterwards haha. I had gamepass for a while, tried a bunch of smaller games, then bought about a dozen of them on steam sales. I haven't had gamepass since like December, though; if/when I resub I'd probably mostly use it for big games, in which case yes, definitely cheaper

 

I don’t think anyone is kidding themselves about how incremental this change is but I still think it’s better than the alternative. Again, all of this happens with or without us, we have very very very little power as consumers in this market even compared to like music where indie scenes can feel the brunt of enough backlash due to an artist fucking up in some way or whatever. the beast of the video games industry means it’s gonna truck on with or without us and I’m not sure how to change that and I’m really not even sure if it’s worth it to worry about it at all at this point (personally speaking, obviously it’s something to worry about as a society)

 

Anecdotally if I think about I’ve spent far more money on games during times where I wasn’t using or even subbed to gamepass even taking into consideration the fact I bought games I had played or could’ve played on gamepass. It still remains a great option for people who aren’t like me and a lot of this thread who live and die by this hobby so we spend more on it

GamePass is perfect for someone like myself who will play a game to completion without having to buy the game outright. Then if I don’t get to it and dove it to motivate me to return to it, I will buy it at a discount using GamePass and the rewards I get from using it. The last two games I paid full price for were Elden Ring (twice for someone else) and Dead Space and they were worth every penny.

 

I read a book that wasn't good once that had this idea of the future where Microsoft had a console called like the Xbox Universal or something and Microsoft just handed it out to people for free because their idea was that just being part of their ecosystem was worth it.

I have had GamePass for about 3 months and am more than satisfied. Although lately I have been playing a lot, actually pretty much just MLB The Show. Very deep game mechanically (I suck ass). I usually don't care about keeping up with the new hotness tho, maybe I am just a part of their target demo.

 

I alternate between Street Fighter 6, Returnal and some Switch titles so Game Pass is a bust for me lately. Also I'm too picky.

 

Street Fighter 6 looks really cool. Have yet to buy a retail game (mostly bc I don't have a disk drive) but that will for sure be the first one.

 

I can't comment on the actual single player content, I almost exclusively play ranked.

My son has sold me on Ranked Fortnite and I will never look back. Between that and Gears 5 MP, I’m rolling.

Option one: try and do the main story and then finish Yakuza 6 before the new games come out

Option two: Become a taxi driver who does races against a street racing gang and forget all about the main story.
