I always thought it was a PR stunt.

 

Do you have any insight about the theory that Taylor has beef with Olivia? They talked about it on Popcast this week and I hadn’t really seen much discussion on it, but it does seem like Taylor hasn’t really embraced Olivia the way she has certain other younger pop stars.

 

You weren’t talking to me but I 100% believe this theory. I don’t have any cool insider information but I can explain why I believe it if you want!

 

I want

 

Okay so here’s a lil rundown.

- Since the beginning of her career Olivia has always spoke very highly about Taylor. Like, idol level worship
- The same can be said about Olivia’s best friend, Conan Gray, who is also a pop star but not as famous.
- Taylor posted Conan’s song on her story in 2020 and he freaked out.
- Taylor commented on Olivia’s Instagram in January 2021 and she freaked out.
- O + C together participated in the promotion of Fearless TV in April 2021. They were obviously paid for it but they seemed very excited about it. Olivia also meets Taylor for the first time around then and as usual, freaks out and posts it all over social.
- In July 2021 Taylor is awarded credit on Deja Vu. Olivia says nothing about this.
- in November 2021, Red TV comes out and both O + C are radio silent. Obviously this proves nothing, but to be a major Swiftie and not even mention ATW10? Weird.
- From what I saw neither mentioned anything Taylor related for a year until Midnights was released. They were each asked their favorite song, Olivia said Anti-Hero (the lead single) and Conan said he hadn’t heard it yet…over a month later. Again…whatever, but weird for a diehard fan.
- Gracie Abrams, close friends with both of them as of 2022, books a spot on Eras…and neither O or C say anything or go to see her perform.
- Gracie hasn’t posted anything about Vampire even though they are supposedly best friends. Was she forced to pick a side? And if so, does O-Rod have beef with Phoebe now too?!

We can come to two conclusions here -
1. I need to get a fucking life clearly, and
2. SOMETHING happened between them and it most likely has to do with the Deja Vu thing but what actually went down???

Yeah, I don't want to jump to any conclusions, but it is weird how they haven't really been in each other's orbits lately, given that Olivia is probably the biggest Taylor disciple to come along yet. My hot take is that Olivia should have been the guest on "Nothing New" for that specific reason!

 

Feels more like fan projection than anything, but a don't meet your heroes moment doesn't seem too far-fetched

 

Yeah, seems like Olivia is over talking about Taylor which is really a huge bummer since Taylor was a such a massive influence on her. In early interviews, Olivia gushed about Taylor Swift all the time. It’d really suck if Taylor squashed that just because she saw Olivia as a threat or something dumb like that. You’d think she’d rather take her under her wing.
