I am purposely avoiding The Bear thread until I get through the entire season, but I just got through Episode 6 and holy fuck, what an episode. And it ends with THE CHRISTIMAS SONG by Weezer?!?!?!

Give them ALL the Emmys

 

I had high hopes (even without being familiar with the comic) but this far exceeded expectations. Almost felt similar to seeing Inside Out for the first time in terms of trusting children with some deeper stories and themes. Texted some friends that in 10 or so years, we're gonna be hearing stories from trans and non-binary kids (and even adults) that this gave them language, context, and understanding they didn't have otherwise.

I was also very pleased that The Director wasn't redeemed. There's been some queer media adaptations the last few years that have made sure to give their antagonist some sort of "see!!!! they think they're doing the right thing!!!!!" moment and making them more sympathetic. Which I do understand can be realistic, but sometimes you just have to walk away and sometimes people are just full of shit. I really appreciated that kid gloves weren't used here.

Red, White, and Royal Blue looks like the kind of rom-com queer people have been begging for for years. Between this, Bros, and Crush it feels like queer movies are starting to get a little less traumatic

 

Finished the last season of Mrs. Maisel, thought it was very good.

Watched the first episode of the new season of Witcher, thought it was very good, so far.

Not sure I want to continue watching Secret Invasion at the moment, might put that on hold for now rather than tuning in week to week.

 

I was eh on this being a series and then I saw Demi Adejuyigbe is writing, doing the theme song and voicing a character and now I'm 100% on board

 

I'm curious, feel like it could be very bad and not translate at all.

 

Started Boots Riley’s new show I’m A Virgo and it is wild af. First episode was great.

Hijack is great and I feel it will get even better as tensions get higher. Sepinwall mentioned needing a walk around the block after the end of episode 6 lol.
