isn’t it on gamepass king or do you not have that anymore

 

nah getting rid of my xbox and i use my deck for PC gaming shit lately and dont feel like getting windows to boot on it doesnt seem worth it. at the end of the day i very rarely saw games to completion on gamepass and ive got ps plus now

 

also with how many times a third party game i had started got taken off before i could finish it seems i wind up buying games i play on gamepass anyway down the road (hades, dragon quest xi)

Would you say the Steam Deck is a good buy in 2023? The screen is what was putting me but off compared to the Ally but yeah the Ally is an ASUS product…

so here's my slightly controversial take:

given the *ahem* CURRENT STATE OF PC GAMING , I am not sure if the Steam Deck has long term viability. Quality wise and wrt to what you are getting for your money, it's an incredible device, but if you want to play the latest triple A games on the go, it might be nearing end of life sooner rather than later (especially if the indication of games being 30fps on console is any indication), like, I wouldn't expect it to run Starfield decently for example.

However if you mainly wanna play indie and PS4 and prior era games, the Steam Deck is unbeatable and awesome, especially at 20% off.

 

i was gonna say i mostly use it for older games and emulation but its worth it for that alone imo. it does run some pretty high end games rather well but also some shit just wont work on it. its not a substitute for a PC but its a fantastic mobile and handheld PC option rather than a laptop or something.

 

im actually going on my first trip since getting my deck (to see taylor swift!!!) and im excited to bring it for the drive and hotel i mostly just use it around my condo and when im at my parents or brothers house and i still think its worth it

 

this is a very good watch with regarding to what you can expect when running modern and demanding games. if nothing in this video bothers you, go ahead.

for example: Returnal, famously one of my favorite games, barely runs on it in any enjoyable manner.

 

thats what my ps5 and PC are for but also every last extra dollar i have goes to this hobby and not everyone is like me lol

just wanted to recommend this to fans of Gris.

 

The one game that I want to run is Persona 5 Royal. Life is so tight these days and I'm thinking a handheld would allow me to really get back into gaming. But if I could run some *legal* emulation that would be great as well. I've heard people buying and dumping Switch games to play on the Deck / Ally.

I do wish there was a Deck 2 already with a better screen as that would be a no brainer for me (plus I prefer a black handheld over white).

There is literally a sign on games that don’t run well in the store so people don’t buy them.

 

I did see, but unfortunately it looks like it is a lower quality version compared to Steam / GamePass.

 

I mean it's a PS3 game so I doubt you'll notice much difference, especially handheld ;)

DF has a video of all versions tested, including Steam Deck and Switch.

"Steam Deck's screen really lacks the contrast ratio to do Persona 5's art justice" is an instant knockout for me.

also I just want to add that as of now, the Switch is the only place to play SMT V which in my opinion is a very good and interesting game too.

But that all might change tomorrow?!
