It actually was Brand New that played the acoustic set at noon...one of the members was injured..I forget all the details as it has been 20 years haha...but it was definitley Brand New....and to the poster who noted that it was TBS first shows with Fred and Rubano thank you for bringing that memory back as well!

injured was warped tour. Early into their run on the 2003 warped tour, jesse fell off the stage and broke his leg, so they played acoustic the rest of the tour.

bamboozle was Brand New being upset about playing right before TBS as they suspected they were the headliner. So Jesse threw a fit, demanded they open the main stage for Bamboozle and left after.

2002 Warped had to have been the best soley due to the Drive Thru Records stage. Which was kinda funny looking back on it as Midtown opened and SoCo closed, and NFG were also on the main stages that year, at least at the Chula Vista stop. Kenny coming out to play with Finch was so memorable.

Yeah I think Jesse busted his foot so their whole set was acoustic which bummed out younger me who wanted to mosh. Related, the Cleveland show, one of the guitarists for the Starting Line had to fly home for a wedding and Vin from Brand New filled in. Even know, that's cool to think about.

Didn’t they play a ridiculous set too, with like Degausser three times or something?

Haha yeah they played it 2x in a row….the story as I recall was tbs was booked as the “special guest” but slated to play before Brand New but then their management threw a fit so then Brand New was just like “well then jsut put us on first”

My gosh. So, so glad everyone is okay! Definitely bummed, I was very much looking forward to the string of shows next week. Hope they reschedule!

    The intrusive whisper fascinates me

Didn't something similar happen to Thrice too? Didn’t Riley get injured which made them do an acoustic set?

First band I ever saw at Warped Tour was... H2O in 1999. The last two sets were Reel Big Fish and Andrew W.K. in 2010.

Which was honestly the perfect way to go out for my Warped Tour experience, if I'm being honest. Those sets were such a blast.

It was the final day of Bamboozle 2007 when Linkin Park headlined and were closing out the festival. Set times and bands were released in advance so everyone knew they had to be there first thing (and all day) if you wanted to see Brand New and Linkin Park.

Brand New played first on the main stage and even sound checked some songs before the official start time. During their set they played Degauser twice (with some different lyrics sprinkled in) along with a bunch of other Devil and God tracks. Crowd was insane throughout. They left the stage early and were supposedly threatened because they didn’t perform their full allotted set time. They came back out and played a halfhearted rendition of Seventy Times Seven that still made everyone go wild.

Taking Back Sunday were on the bill for the same day and they played the same stage at the end of the day right before Linkin Park (the year prior they were in the Linkin Park slot on the same day/stage closing out the festival). “Weird” Al was the crazy type of Bamboozle artist that John D. would book for the festival and he played in between the two of them to close out the other main stage.

That was a festival date where they specifically said they were playing the album and not part of the tour.
