The production and engineering on this Uzi album has to be some of the best I have heard in a while. I don't want to know how much the budget for this was. Everything is clean as fuck.

He also sampled "I'm Blue" and mimics their flow from that song. Did not expect that.

"sake of my kids" makes me so emosh between it being an old leak but also hearing that mid 2010s era sounding joyful thugger at the end of the album w/ current event context is real bittersweet

 

funny enough I didn't really care for Juice WRLD track, but Sake of my Kids is really good, and the overall sequencing is significantly better

 

So when is Nakuamura coming out to this Uzi song? Was not expecting that sample at all, shit is wild.

 

He also sampled Chop Suey by System of a Down...wtf. This album has some the most random fucking samples ever.

There's some cool tracks on Pink Tape but man they are just handing out samples left and right recently. A lot of big misses on this thing

I really thoroughly enjoyed the Uzi album, exponentially more entertaining than the Thug album. I actually appreciate the ambition and the screamy tracks haha. I listened while at the gym so that probably helped. Really would love more rap with this sort of eclectic production and vocal delivery rather than the monotone we’ve been getting lately/this year

Pink Tape is definitely fun as hell, this is gonna blow him up even more.

 

Listened to most of the Pink Tape and it’s not bad. Had to skip the Eiffel 65 sampling song and the Chop Suey cover is… eh. Rest was solid. The Nakamura sample and Justice sample were both really good.

 

Happy that rap is having a bit of a comeback with the summer

Feel kinda bad that the Ugly Mane news got me to check him out but I can't stop listening to him. A little split on the non-hip-hop stuff, but I really appreciate his versatility. Really in love with Mista Thug Isolation and Oblivion Access. MTI feels so ahead of its time for also throwing back to older Memphis stuff

 

This the best hip hop related thing so far this year. Incredible.

 

OA is so fucking great. Opposite Lanes is one of my favourite hip-hop songs post 2000

 

Talking about random samples, at a H&M yesterday I heard something that sounded so weird yet so familiar it threw me off: what sounded like a cover of Frank Ocean's Thinking Bout You except the backing track was the most generic deep house shit you'd, well, expect to hear in clothing stores lol. I'm starting to get sick of lazy samples and interpolations

 

Idk everyone loves all the Bad Boy songs that did exactly this in the 90s. It doesn’t really bother me if the beat ends up being good. To be fair many of them aren’t good, unlike the Bad Boy ones.

 

I always get a feeling of crushing disappointment when I think I’m hearing “Sunshine” by Lil Flip and it turns out to be that stupid ass Tyga song instead

 

Feel like a joint Carti/Uzi tour doing Pink Tape and WLR would be insane and fit together like a glove.

 

Lmao I have to admit I kinda like even that one just because it reminds me of Sunshine
