yeah it's not coming anywhere near me, but I'd love to see both Pissgrave and Undergang. not really familiar with the other bands tbh

Thankfully all of the bands there you're not familiar with and have no release each so it's not that daunting to dive into

Miasmatic Necrosis put out one of the most accessible goregrind albums I've ever heard so they're not that daunting to get into. NYC based. I have their one album on tape. Not posting a link to it here because of a tw for human dissection gore but they're not hard to search out.

Necropsy Odor is California goregrind. Good shit. I also have this release on tape:

Mephitic Corpse has a single demo out from 2019. More straightforward noisy, lower-fi death metal. The fact they're playing shows means that something else is in the pipeline from them so I'm excited for it:

Sounds like what you'd expect a black metal album called Imperial Dragoon Kommando to sound like.

Idk 75 a day doesn't seem too insane to me. Especially since travel costs would be somewhat limited.

We reach for the longest shadow

PTH are probably my number two favorite band ever (hence the avatar), so it's cool to hear you like them. I'm of the opinion that Kezia is their youthful energetic album that works because you can feel that, Fortress is one mountaintop of theirs, Scurrilous is a step down as a whole with a few really awesome songs, Volition felt like a step in the right direction with Chris Adler from Lamb of God on drums, and Pacific Myth EP is easily their least interesting release.

That brings me to Palimpsest. I could gush about this album all day. It made me fall back in love with this band. The riffs, the drumming, the production, the artwork, the vocals, everything. I know Rody's a little rougher around the edges on this release, but knowing that he basically had to relearn how to sing after blowing his vocal chords, and then decided a song like From the Sky was even a possibility blows my mind. Not to mention the subject matter, which made me do a lot of research into historical events in the US that I either had no idea happened or had a very surface level knowledge of.

This and Caligula's Horse Rise Radiant came out in summer 2020, and I still hold both in very high regard, and are really the only reason I had any ounce of positivity during that time.

  21. Hell yeah time to thank you guys for the PTH discography run I'm about to do. I know they're not exactly unknowns but a part of me still finds them underrated in the grand scheme of things. Hopefully they'll have something new in the next year or so.

We reach for the longest shadow

I hope so. They're an interesting beast when it comes to recording. Their primary songwriter, Luke, decided he didn't want to tour after COVID, but still wanted to write/record with the band. He also runs Sheet Happens, so not surprising he'd rather run that than tour as a early to mid 30s guy. PTH live is now Rody and Tim from the OG lineup and three guys I'm not totally familiar with now. The drummer for Pacific Myth and Palimpsest left recently on good terms, but it was a bummer because I really liked what he brought to the table.

WELCOME TO THRASH METAL THVRSDAY YOU FKIN REPLICANTS

I'm in a weird space where I just finished Zelda (120 hours) and the book I was reading (815ish pages) so I've got nothing better to do than look up thrash recs. Today I bring an album from last year, a new single, and then a cheat post.

First, 2022. Came across this album by Polish thrashers Species. Closest rec I can think of is Coroner as these guys lean into the tech stuff a bit. And anything similar to Coroner rules:

Then we have a new single from English black/thrashers Devastator called "Liar in Wait". Actually came out last month, FFO: Venom, Hellripper, Bewitched:

And I know this is cheating but if you haven't listened to this yet, you owe it to yourself to do so. I was at this show. Favorite part is when Riley (RIP) calls out someone in the crowd for being on their phone lol
