Aftershows were every day during the fest (Fri/Sat/Sun).

Saw that just noticed majority were on Saturday night. When do the night shows get announced usually?

There aren’t a lot of food options in the immediate vicinity of Douglass other than the street vendors but if you take the pink line back into the loop (get off at Clark/Lake or State/Lake) there will be more options and you’ll have the option to switch to any line you want to go and get food. Or you can just Uber anywhere too since you mentioned taking rideshare.

Lawndale isn’t an extremely dangerous neighborhood especially with so many people there for the festival and the police presence but I’d say just always be aware of your surroundings and try not to travel alone outside of the crowds or the group you are with.

If you take the pink line and get off at California it’s about a 15 minute walk to the festival entrance, and after the festival that station gets extremely packed so if you end up doing public transit get on at the stop prior, it will be way less crowded.

None of the aftershow venues are near the park, or at least walking distance, but all of the venues are easily accessible by public transit (IIRC the venues last year were Metro, Empty Bottle, Botton Lounge, Cobra Lounge, House of Blues, Reggies, Concord, and Chop Shop so you can just use Google Maps to see their locations)

Also I don’t know if the weekends will conflict again this year, but the past two (maybe more, I don’t remember exactly) years Riot Fest weekend has conflicted with the Mexican Independence celebration and the city has straight up been horrible at controlling it so traffic is always a mess (like, a standstill where people are stuck for a good while depending on where you are and trying to go), so if that is the case again this year plan accordingly.

Usually I would say around late July?

And I live around 10 minutes from Oak Park, if it were me then I would see if I can somehow get from the Pink line to the Green line. I will be going with a car, if you find yourself lost then dm me and I can pick you up on the way.

Silverstein announced This Is How The Wind Shifts anniversary tour with no Chicago date. Wonder if they will play it at Riot or if they will announce the date after Riot

Quicksand announced a Slip anniversary tour today. I’d say then playing it at Riot is a lock

getting there in a car is basically fine, finding parking is mostly a nightmare. driving back to your hotel from the area is a nightmare though, would highly recommend uber/lyft if you can afford the usually jacked up prices or take transit. bring a water bottle, refill every time you can. i saw a ton of people with like inflatable couches there last year, i'd probably bring one too if you can find one. sitting on that grass is hell on your back and legs. sunscreen sunscreen sunscreen, and watch out for bees in the food area when you're eating.

I firmly believe we will have an Is For Lovers aftershow with Bayside, Silverstein, HH and maybe Spitalfield. Really hope for it to be on thursday

Could always do both even. I think Dashboard did that before.

I think an album play festival set and normal set aftershow is more likely than the other way around.

They usually have the album plays announced by now.. this ain't the Riot I used to know!

Riot Mike probably keeps calling AFI every day to play Sing the Sorrow and upping the stakes.

Speaking of aftershows Im really hoping for Is For Lovers at Concord or Radius, PUP at Cobra or Bottom Lounge, LS Dunes at Cobra Lounge and Sleep Token at Metro.

Crossing my fingers for any of these

    It's chaos. Be kind. Prestigious

Really trying to avoid after shows this year, unless it's to satisfy harsh conflicts on Friday/Saturday, BUT anything Code Orange, Enter Shikari, or Drain would be tempting.

I feel like at least one of the hardcore bands playing will play at Cobra since there is no barricade there.

I could sit here and match make aftershows all day, so many options, just from Sunday any 2 or 3 band combo from AFI, the used, finch, Thursday, Ls dunes, gorilla biscuits, drain, h2o, earth crisis.. I try to stick to only 1 aftershow a year but this year has lots of potential, may have to suck it up haha

Gorillaz cancelled their September US shows including the Saturday of Riot at Tinley.. which honestly made no sense going head to head with DCFC/TPS/QOTSA

Man, this last stretch of bands I've listened to for the first time while making my mega playlist has been incredible. How have I never once listened to a Walter Schreifels band until now?

Also Screaming Females, High Vis, Snapcase and Spitalfield have been incredible, this lineup just keeps getting better and better.

All his bands rule, but Quicksand especially rip. Listen to Slip. It’s an amazing album

    Give what you can.

Can't recommend watching Screaming Females enough. The records are great but they don't really do justice to how mercilessly hard Marissa can shred.
