I haven’t had to drive there yet but it does look like a nightmare. Luckily the T is one of the better transit systems by US standards so it’s not too bad to get around without a car.

Feel like one of the major issues/stressors with Boston roads is how small the lanes are / roads aren’t very wide because of the age of the city so roads were made way back in the day before cars of course and buildings and shops popped up only a few feet from the road so a lot of it is super crammed together now that the roads are used by vehicles and not horses. I had family that lived in/around Boston and they sent pictures the first few months they lived there showing all the crazy skinny, congested roads.

Also, thought “Sweet Caroline” was St. Louis song? Could have sworn when the Bruins played the Blues in the Stanley Cup Final it was constantly being played and talked about because of St. Louis, not Boston.

Edit: just Wikipedia’d the song and what a very bizarre history of teams and states that have used it lol

I know this thread has gone off on Schitt's Creek many times before, but I am really getting into it for the first time. This show is watchable just because you cannot miss with performances of Levy, O'Hara, and Chris Elliot. My brain is broken though so I cant help but watch this without analyzing what this show has to say about capitalism.

This show is like the Hero's Journey for small business tyrants. Rich cosmopolitan corporate bourgeois fall from grace, and gradually find redemption, not by coming to understand the fundamental flaws of capital, but by opening their own small town boutique store and taking over the local motel; and thus are reborn as local business barons. It's like a every constructive critique of capital this show could have done was just replaced by the equivalent of a "Shop Local" sticker.

The only piece of modern media I can think of that got the Corporation vs Small Business thing 100% correct is Stardew Valley.

From jump the game gives you the choice of choosing to support local business or the corporate big box store. Most people choose the Community Center path because it seem like the "good" choice. Once you get deeper in the game though you realize that Pierre the local grocer who was at risk of losing his business is actually just as toxic, greedy, and immoral as the big box chain he opposes.

I think Stardew Valley mechanically is great, but I think the world and characters are obnoxious.

I just want a normal, harvest moon like charm, none of that other nonsense.

I.couldn't disagree more. I think the post-modern quirky Lynchian vibes to the world Concerned Ape created are what put it over the edge to being brilliant for me.

I recently replayed the SNES Harvest Moon and realized just how much better Stardew is on pretty much ever level. Harvest Moon does not have a subplot where a woman deeply unhappy in her marriage to a neglectful local businessman cheats on her husband with a wizard who lives in the woods.

I still can't believe Concerned Ape actually added a unique cutscene for if you add Mayor Lewis' purple underwear that you find in Marnie's bedroom to the potluck luau soup

I love Stardew and there's so much to do, but Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons will always have a special place in my heart. When those games hit the mark, it lines up so perfectly it's crazy. I wish there was a game that combined the vibe/style/village of Harvest Moon: Back to Nature with the kind of deep mechanics and customization that Stardew has.

That's the nonsense I'm talking about. I just want to farm and go exploring. Rune Factory all the way.

If that is all you want then go play Farmville.

Meanwhile i'll be be helping the local grocery store bag boy overcome his alcoholism and help the mayor hide the golden statue of himself he bought with embezzled tax funds.

This is a dumb rivalry you guys have going here, but I will point out that it's real funny that Souls "just wants to farm and go exploring" and in the same breath props up a game that is also not just about farming and exploring.

Just not that weird realism aspect of alcoholism and depressing fucking adultery nonsense. I want a dumb, fun fantasy world.
