Please be kind. Like actually kind though.

Was surprised by this too. Always been a Balance and Composure fan but the type of fan that can vibe out to a record for two weeks then maybe come back to certain songs, but this release is solid all around. The vocal melodies are top notch and the beats and stuff are very addicting to listen too.

I wouldn't go that far. I really like the idea of this album but I'm more enticed by the sounds than the actual musical ideas or melodies. Awesome vocals and guitar tones at their best. Something I think they should be praised for

    yeah good okay Prestigious

Still feel like it's a pretty meh album with a handful of standout tracks that are far superior to everything else on the album, BUT it intrigues me enough to keep listening. This one may take longer than the last album to click with me, but I can see it happening.

I'm 26, I got into balance back in college.

I like the album. Gonna take a few listens to digest fully.

My only issue with the album right now is I want guitar led banger. Super bass and drum heavy.
With that said. I've listened to it probably 50 times this week. Ha

25, been into balance since only boundaries came out. Like a few tracks but ultimately pretty disappointed with this new sound. Going to spend a lot more time with it and see if it clicks.

  13. this is quickly turning into the Official Balance and Composure Singles Thread

"M, 22, first got into Separation in high school and feel like they've improved ever since. Also into Joyce Manor and stand-up comedy. Always looking for an adventure!"

Got the Postcard 7" over the weekend and just listened to Revelations. This song should have been on the album, its way too good to be a b-side.

I thought the last 3 tracks were the best stretch but today I realized it's actually the last 5. Album is super backloaded. Only song on the front half that can touch the back half is Midnight Zone

See I'm having a hard time finding most of these catchy, given I don find the instrumentals interesting/weird at times. Probably because I've been listening to the new Yellowcard album and Cody so much. I've become used to the very strong melodies in those that I feel are lacking here, even though I'm thinking this album wasn't meant to be like that. I just need to listen to this when my current cravings change.

Maybe I haven't been giving this a good enough listen since I always end up doing work while this is on. I should give this another go when I can focus on it more.

i think its gonna be a grower for quite a few people. it wasnt for me but i can see why it would be. the things we think we're missing took a good year to two years to grow on me.

I also feel a lot of the intricacies in here are where it shines the most, unlike Cody where the best stuff is front and center. Which is why not focusing more may be hurting this for me.

there are definitely little guitar parts and production flourishes that take a few listens to really pick out for sure

see i don't remember a single thing from the yellowcard record other than "the hurt is gone"

also like five listens into each i still like this more than cody haha. which stuns me to say the least

  25. I love that I say one thing about the record and everyone starts debating it. It's cool to see actual discussion. I still don't care for this record enough, but maybe that will change. I had the same problem with Moose Blood's record - while parts got stuck in your head sometimes (i.e. catchy) they weren't clever or even memorable enough to stick around, and same as this record, started strong but ended many of the lyrical phrases in an odd and decidedly un-catchy way.Mainly in the choruses. Perhaps exclusively in the choruses. I can pick out examples if people care enough to debate that specifically.

I'm not saying there aren't catchy parts on either of the records I'm talking about. Just that overall, there's a lot of filler in the choruses. Verses are fine. Honestly, if BalCo just cut out a lot of their choruses and wrote weird song structures I'd be way more cool with their records.
