On-brand for Thou as anarchists tbh though they probably need to be a bit more critical about what we know about the Unabomber's views on leftists. There's actually some cogent logic in Kaczynski's writings before he goes off the deep end where he hates technology and the industrial revolution for bringing about a lot of society's ills. Not caping for a serial killer at all, but there's some high level stuff in his manifesto that's hard to disagree with tbh.

Edit: Just to be clear, dude was also a racist, misogynist, and a bigot.

Willing to guess anyone who is shook/annoyed by the Thou tweet has never paid any attention to the mindset inherent on yr average, say, Cattle Decapitation record. There are a ton of (sometimes great) metal bands who recycle some variant of the theme "humanity/humans deserve mass punishment/genocide for crimes against Earth" so it reallllly shouldn't come as a shock.

 

It's a bit different than that. They're a leftist band whose been openly pro everything that comes with that just a gave a tacit endorsement to someone who's over viewpoints go just beyond anarchist, anti-technology beliefs. Reading his manifesto also shows he's libertarian with a bigoted, misogynistic, and racist leans too. Doesn't help his case that a lot of far-right actors have co-opted his beliefs for white supremacist ideals either. There's value in looking into his readings from the anti-technology perspective because a lot of what he predicted there is happening, but it's still bad as a leftist band to give a maladapted serial killer who's arguably an OG influence on incel culture an endorsement like that.

 

Unabomber was right about like three things and holy-fuck wrong about dozens of others. Probably better for them that they were incarcerated before the internet progressed past 16 kbps lmfao
