I don't think we talk about this movie enough.

Posted this in the Horror Thread but probably belongs in here more.

    This movie rules.

  4. Hell yeah, added that one to my list.

Nice thread bump! I recently found a copy of the original The Day the Earth Stood Still on blu-ray, so I'm excited to watch that and Independence Day soon!

Cool thread! I recently rewatched Coherence and it made me wonder, what other movies remind you of/are comparable? It’s such a fun ride, I want more.
For me it’s a little like the twilight zone episode the monsters are due on maple street and the movie the man from earth.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

Resolution has very similar vibes. two of my all-time favourites

Coherence is so good. I forgot about that movie.

  8. Yes! Seconding this recommendation.

  9. Coherence is great. Need to rewatch that one.

If anyone hasn't seen it, I recommend The One I Love, which is more of a dark romantic comedy but still has a twilight zone-y vibe.

  10. Also, I watched Dark City last weekend and it was undeniably cool but ultimately didn't stick the landing for me. Still would not discourage from watching

  14. Couple low-budget movies I watched today. Both are more sci-fi conceptually than visually, but both were interesting genre exercise imo and I wanted an excuse to bump the thread.

Ultrasound. This was such a trip. Maintains a slight but constant sense of uneasiness throughout and gets more and more disorienting as it goes. Idk how to describe it w/o spoiling things. If all that sounds fun to you, it's on Hulu lol.

LOLA. Two sisters in England during WWII era invent a machine that can intercept radio waves and broadcasts from the future. Impressive blend of found-footage presentation and stock archive footage from the era. I don't think it's streaming anywhere, but it's on VOD.

  15. I watched Fire in the Sky for the first time recently. Really dug it. Cool little movie with some creepy af moments.

This new animated series dropping on Max next month looks pretty interesting.

Here's the original short that it's based on. Based off this and the trailer, this show is gonna be a trip.

If the directors of this movie had justttttt a little more artistry (better score, elevated visual scenes) it would have been a 5/5 legendary classic. It’s just missing a minor ompf

  20. Been on a little kick lately between Close Encounters of the Third Kind and Wall-E. Might finally be time to start working through the Star Trek films I haven't seen

  21. Recently rewatched Wall-E too during my Pixar binge. It's still incredible, particularly those first 20min or so.
