unfortunately cocktails are one of the things where good ones are worth the extra money, usually you’re paying for the mixologist’s talent more than the drink itself

yeah the line between a really creative cocktail and just an awkward cocktail that doesn’t make sense is very thin

 

Re: craft cocktail bars, I like this little dive in DC. Great spot to get a date night started or to have a nightcap at the end, & it’s right on 14th street near U street where loaaads of activity and entertainment is located

 

idk how it is in other places, i imagine it varies here and there, but working as a bartender for just the short time that i did, it is absolutely insane how much markup is put on a bottle of liquor lol

take a bottle of jameson, probably one of your more common shot requests and mixers in a whisky and soda, a bar makes back what they paid for that bottle in like 4-5 shots worth and then its all in the green.
