I don't know if my first impression is QUITE as strong as Reunions, which totally bowled me over. But I love that it's a bit looser and livelier from a full-band perspective.

 

I get that. I think the biggest difference for me is that my favorite songs, at least my top three, on Reunions are all ones I’d heard in some form pre release. Not the case here besides maybe Cast Iron Skillet

I haven't listened to this one enough yet to pick out favorites, though the one that is really wrecking me at the moment is "Save the World." I only listened to that song once or twice before the album came out, though.

 

Pretty jealous of that first listening experience

 

My early favorite is "If You Insist," some really great songwriting right there

So happy I held out and only listened to Death Wish pre release. I love this man. He's just got a way with words.

 

i'm not even done yet and i think i'm here

 

those initial first listens of 'Only Children' and 'Overseas' absolutely floored me but I don't think my initial reaction to Reunions touches what i'm feeling about this one right now. how does he do this?

finally got a full attention listen in the car this morning and man this is so good.

 

Yeah exactly. I might still end up liking the trio of tracks 2-4 on Reunions better than anything on here (Only Children might be his best song ever) but this album was pretty immediately more impactful as a whole

 

Shout out to the motherfucking 400 Unit too, holy shit. Every member of that band is at the top of their game and it really shines through with the way this one is produced

 

pretty perfect summary, and i feel the same way. a lot of this musically feels like it could have found it's way onto one of those earlier records but still keeping that writing that he is absolutely just killing right now.

im gonna listen to this 20 times today.

 

Haven’t listened to it all the way through yet but strawberry woman and cast iron skillet are entirely my shit
