- Gannon probably hired even later, unsure how that positively affects Fangio to PHI timeline

On the sideline after the Eagles beat the Whiners, Gannon said he was staying in Philly. It’s likely that he had that conversation internally before making that comment to the sideline reporter, thus leading to the announcement prior to the game that the Dolphins would hire Fangio. All signs point towards Howie knowing the Cardinals were interested in hiring Gannon, which is why he told him to stay in Arizona following the super bowl loss to interview for the job. A couple months later and we find out about the tampering issue because the Cardinals did, in fact, reach out to Gannon during the playoffs.

So Gannon was in talks with Arizona, told people he was staying in Philly, then ultimately took the job, thus leaving the Eagles without a DC, which explains why it took the Eagles so long to hire Desai. Also, along Gannon’s hiring process, I heard Gannon pissed off Sirianni with one of the hires he made in Arizona because Gannon picked someone from Sirianni’s staff instead of building his own staff from around the league.

You can quibble about if it’s right or wrong to poach your former HC’s staff, but all signs point to Gannon not being an honest person when it come to the business in the NFL.
