multiple can happen. That’s how I took it and were led to believe. Gwen lost Peter yet had the belief that if her dad stays captain, he will die. She accepted it. That’s why when he tells her that he quit, therefore not a Captain Stacy anymore, she looks relieved.

The way I'm thinking about it is 'close friend/mentor dies' is one canon event (happens to every spider person). 'Police captain dies saving someone else from falling rubble' is a different event that also happens to every spider person.

The first movie is the first matrix with the classic hero’s journey in an exciting new way.

This is The Matrix Reloaded - which blows up the hero’s journey into a million pieces. Also matrix reloaded is incredible so ya this is too

Loved the movie but the sound mixing felt off with dialogue being a little too quiet compared to the music. Anyone else experience that?

After a while that started to distract from what was otherwise a solid movie.

Agreed! I saw it in Dolby and wanted them to throw up some subs.

I only had an issue during the opening. But I blamed that on the crying baby two rows up. Once it got going, I had no issues.

We didn't have audio at all for the first ten minutes until they fixed it at my theater, did have an issue with the dialogue being pretty muffled by the music, especially at the beginning

Clearly I'll have to wait until they release a patch.

  12. Oh shit lol. I walked out of my theater to tell the staff the volume was way too low lol, thought it was something with my theater.

I felt it mostly during the opening with Gwen’s band.

assume I'm an alien with zero knowledge of spiderman/the MCU, is the animation enough to keep me entertained? will I be able to follow the story at all? should I watch into the spider-verse first?

You should watch into the Spider-Verse first lol

Why would you skip the first movie?

You’ll still be entertained. They do recap what you need to know from the first. But it’s weird to jump on at the second movie.

Oh wow, so many great comics people worked on this thing. I knew Kris Anka did costume design, but there are some surprising, cool contributors here.

  17. My friend hadn’t seen the original and enjoyed this more than I did fwiw. Probably because surprise factor was still there.

I just came out of the movie theater and it was legit a perfect movie. My only complaint was I was legit in a audience with like 5 other people so no one was really getting hyped for any of the Easter eggs or stuff lmao.

I wonder if my movie was so loud because they got complaints at earlier showings. I had a headache by the end of the previews because it was so loud. Luckily I think someone complained because it was fine after like 15 minutes into the movie.

So just got back from the second viewing and I feel like I have a much fuller understanding of the Canon Event stuff as well as where they’re probably going for 3. The Canon Events are things that happen to all Spider characters in some form. Ones discussed/shown were: Bit by radioactive spider, death of Uncle Ben-like character, death of police captain, Venom/Black suit, Spider-Man No More, the Wedding/marriage, and one that they showed the Jess variant for but went too quick for me to have a definitive guess (maybe Clone Saga or Death of Gwen?). These events happening are what connect these characters and make them part of specifically the SpiderVerse, which Miguel believes will collapse if too many universes miss these events. It’s also clear that this is based on algorithms and assumptions as Jess even asks Miguel what harm it would do and he just goes, “Do you really wanna find out?” They attribute lost worlds to this but there’s room for there to be more and likely is more. Miles’s perspective is obviously different and I’m sure this overly rigid view of the Spider story will be explored more and probably debunked in the 3rd movie.

If you were to tell me 5 years ago that Miguel would be on bubble tea cups in the Taiwan countryside I’d tell you you’re on drugs.

Seeing all of the different Spideys become known to people unfamiliar with the comics is some cool stuff.

I feel like the third film is going to connect even more into the other Marvel franchises, for better or for worse.

I assumed this was the case. I only considered skipping the first one because I'm not all that interested in these films but I have AMC A-List and this seems like something I should catch while it's on the big screen. Also I just didn't know if watching the first one would be "enough" since I haven't seen him the other Spider-Man films.

These films have nothing to do with the MCU or previous Spider-Man films, if that helps.
