If the job was there, I really think Ben Johnson should have jumped at a HC gig this offseason

too much potential for him to be the next Joe Brady and flame out spectacularly now that there are sky high expectations

I don’t doubt it if he gets to take the Bills OC -> HC pipeline that Daboll took and Dorsey will soon follow

Admittedly, there weren’t many head coaching opportunities available and the Panthers, Cardinals, Colts, Texans, and Broncos isn’t exactly an appealing group to choose from, especially in a year where there was continued criticisms of the incoming rookie QBs

 

I’m also sure it helps that the Lions went up against two teams four times who fired their DCs in the offseason and played against the Bears twice who also had a bad defense

 

Who do you hate more? Young Shanny or Top-10 QB Jared Goff?

At least people are more willing to push back against the idea that Jared Goff is a good QB than the idea that Kyle Shanahan is a good head coach

true — just a big bet on yourself that “next year is always better”, both for vacancies and for a Jared Goff-led offense, will work itself out better than landing in Carolina and working around Bryce Young (or I guess, the promise of a top QB at the time of interviewing, since that was pre-trade) and a ton of future cap space and roster flexibility
