I just bought a ticket to see him last week! He never tours so that alone is reason enough for me.

Hannibal Burress was in town for a last-minute show yesterday. Did I screw up by not going? Not really familiar with his work.

 

His last Netflix special was hit or miss

 

Hannibal is great...you kind of screwed up. Heh.

 

I knew it. Damn.

 

I'm gonna be honest and say that Hannibal's getting a little lazy. He's sort of resting on his laurels at this point. Still an amazing comic, but I don't see that same ambition and spark in his material the way I used to.

 

When I saw him in Chicago he killed, had a great bit about Iggy Azalea with music cues and stuff. But his Netflix special seemed to be missing a lot of the best moments of that show.

I'm late to the party but Frankie Boyle is hilarious. Wish he was still on Mock The Week

 

I still haven't watched the Comedy Camisado special but I saw him earlier on in that tour and it was great. First time I was seeing him, though, so maybe that's skewing my memory of it.

Unrelated: I didn't know whether to post it in here or the Netflix thread, but I just watched People Places Things. Well worn territory there story wise but I thought it was super charming. Mostly smartly written and the cast was great.

 

He's only ever been good on Mock The Week IMO. He did a fucking terrible sketch show a few years ago and I'm not keen on his stand up to be honest - it works in short bursts (which is why he was genuinely brilliant on Mock The Week) but I've never liked his full length shows.

 

Boyle's schtick has always annoyed me. He clearly has an amazing mind for premise and turn, but his material usually suffers when he just absolutely needs it to be shocking.

I'm kind of feeling that way about Jimmy Carr after this newest hour too. He always walked the line more successfully for me, but man, his latest was rough.

 

Oh my god, the "Boy's Night" episode of Tavern is just too much for me.

 

Listened to the first few episodes of Tavern. Laughed a few times but didn't love it, could just be my mood because it seems like my thing. I appreciate the length of the episodes, though.

 

Picks up at 5, like a crazy jump up in quality. I say stay with it. But then again it was a home run for me from jump though.

 

I mean I'll probably listen to the whole thing regardless, haha. It definitely seems like an easy podcast to plow through.

 

god dammit after that Hannibal talk I just found out that he is/was doing like a pop up show 15-20 minutes away from me tonight motherfricker

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but having some issues with my podcasts. I use ITunes, but I've been unsubscribed from all 5 I was subscribed too. I go on to the store and it gives me the option to subscribe again, which I do, then it just doesn't do anything...

Anyone suffer from the same thing?
