Alright so absolute n00b question, so please try to be nice, but what type of game is Diablo IV as far as the ability to play solo goes? IE are there other players around you at all times like WOW or Lost Ark, or is it basically a solo game and the online aspects you opt into when you want to play with others? I have never played a Diablo game, but they've always looked like my jam as I love fantasy and fantasy worlds, and the hype and early reviews around IV make it seem like now is the time. I'm basically asking as I'll only play if it's fulfilling as a solo experience as that'll be the way I play (no co-op with either IRL friends or random join ups online).

Thanks. I mean more along of the lines of, is it your own individual world, or are you online and seeing other players running around doing their thing at the same time as you? From a google it seems like with IV, yes. When you are in the towns, other players are visible.

 

It seems it is MMO-like in that regard, but unlike real MMOs it plays well solo? Maybe I am missing something.

FFXIV plays pretty well solo now

 

there are players around you and some events in the world you will have players around you partake in them.

No one will join you in instanced quests however and you can always take your time. You can absolutely play solo.

Once again, I really want to give it a try but it requires calling customer support so I can properly link my playstation account and that sounds like a huge hassle just to play a game

 

Is it suggesting that D4 doesn't use matchmaking for party assembly (or doesn't require matchmaking + allows solo)? That's the only thing I could think of

But I do think SWTOR can be done all solo as well IIRC
