Why are the headliners overlapping? So stupid

That's how Lolla has always done it.

Seeing the schedule just underscores even more how much this lineup is not for me, but that's okay. If I happen into a free ticket I might still try to catch Kendrick, but even that's less appealing when the only other band I'd want to see outside of that headliner conflict (Sincere Engineer) is so early in the day.

    Here's what I'm thinking:

Thursday: Joy Oladokun -> Acraze (just a little) -> Sofi Tukker -> Noah Kahan -> Carly Rae Jepsen -> Karol G (unless Billie releases a new album)

Friday: Sincere Engineer (if I make it on time - doubtful) -> Emo Nite -> Beabadoobee -> Big Wild -> Fred Again.. -> Svdden Death -> The 1975 (but still debating Kendrick a bit)

Saturday: Motherfolk -> The LInda LIndas -> Suki Waterhouse -> Sylvan Esso -> Niki -> JID -> Meduza -> Odesza

Sunday: Dehd -> Magdalena Bay -> Mt. Joy -> Maisie Peters -> Rina Sawayama -> Lana Del Rey

paramore is playing for 2 hours on their headliner. maybe lolla didnt want to give them 2 hours and 90 min was too short for what they wanted to do/play and thats why they backed out

Maybe, although they played 1 hour at Hang Out and they are playing 1.15 at Bonnaroo

yeah but lolla was going to be the last stop of the tour so maybe they wanted to play the full set/had something special planned and didnt want to do a festival set

I like seeing the schedule because it either affirms a weak lineup or shows that maybe I misjudged. The undercard is really underwhelming and man I haven't seen this much headline overlapping for a festival in a while. You know the top 6 acts for each day you were probably into seeing..... pick 2

Lollapalooza has scheduled their headliner set times the same way for the past 10 years, this shouldn't have came as a surprise to anyone. The festival crowd has always known Lolla schedules are a disaster because of the conflicting sets.

I believe Bonnaroo might be the only major (5+ stages) US multi-genre festival that features unopposed headliners.

But its not just the main 2. Seems quite difficult to see more than one or two of the main 6 acts. That's kinda lame. Sure there are many festivals where you'll have 2 headliners same time, especially if they're different genres... but this feels extreme

It's the way they've always booked it. The Lolla lineups really fall off hard after 8 lines down (adding a 4th day was dumb) and you reallyyyy notice it once the schedule drops. Between the thin lineup and the all ages access it really makes Lolla a poor experience compared to other fests,

I won't disagree with you on the lineup and adding a fourth day only diluted what their weekend used to be but experience-wise, it's pretty great even in your 30s. The problem is there isn't enough for me to go.

I guess it's because I'm used to how it works, but I don't really have issues with how Lolla does things. When the lineup is released, you already know the top 8 are going to clash, as soon as they release daily lineups you know exactly which two each night. Perry's is pretty easy to figure out who will headline from the daily lineup too. The only one that can sting is when they stick people on the Grove headlining slot that you're not expecting.

As far as non-headlining acts idk there's always conflicts, but you gotta remember they're restricted by the strict 10 pm cut off. And the counter point is, ya they may conflict, but there's almost always someone cool playing at a given time. I totally get why it's not something that would be attractive to travel for, but if you live here the pros far outweigh the cons. It's not perfect by any means, and it's not the best festival ever (or even in the city), but every summer I have a hell of a good time for four days in the park.

I have to keep tabs on Wednesday/Thursday.

Hoping we might get a 1975 aftershow at the metro one of those days. But at least now I know I can fly out to Denver for boygenius on Friday.
