Eyerolled a bit at this but at the same time I wonder if this is why we are seeing such a right wing push into culture war bullshit even moreso than the last election.

Is that something that Biden "did" or are we just experiencing the natural evolution of the virus?

I don’t think it is something Biden did, but I don’t think it necessarily has to be. For a lot of voters they just look at whether things got better or worse under the current President, regardless of how much of an impact they actually had over it

Heard a new term that I love and will be using going forward. Calling people like Tim Pool, Jimmy Dore, and Russel Brand....Fascist Fluffers.

Yeah he let us all get it is what he did. How about covid protections and child tax credits expiring under his admin? And just wait for the student loan pause lift. And oh yeah abortion is essentially banned in the state I live in. Yeah damn things are so much better

i don't know what kind of mental gymnastics you have to pull to think things are better under biden but i wish i lived in your fantasy world

Well sure I understand your point, there's unfortunately a good amount of voters that are uninformed. I just think the tweet is completely idiotic lol

Are we again going to do the hyperbolic thing of thinking that it is worse or the same now under Biden than under Trump?

Like even the complaints are things that Trump would have handled worse. I don't even like Biden but lord this thread goes hyperbolic sometimes. Now if we are talking like how Biden vs. say like Bernie Sanders sure.

the problem is better than someone who was gonna give his fans a high five after they killed his vice president is a very low bar also the way our country is structured it was unfortunately inevitable that we'd wind up where we are where it's like you got long covid that's your problem

Yeah like if that tweet was comparing where we are under Biden than where we would have been under a progressive than yeah its extremely dumb tweet but thinking we would be in a better place than Biden vs. any Republican that is nonsense I am sorry. That tweet is dumb because its misses context in both directions.

Things would have been worse the last two years under trump of course but it’s not hyperbolic to say many things are worse now since Biden took office. Like if you are a woman with a complication or unwanted pregnancy in Ohio for example, this is a nightmare that wasn’t there two years ago. Letting the child tax credit expire put more families back in poverty. The Supreme Court has done more bad things in two years than any good from this admin imo. For many people I’m sure it’s not hyperbolic to say they are worse off now than they were two years ago. That doesn’t mean it would have been better under Trump, it would certainly be worse, but that apparently isn’t the “Reagan” test from that dumb tweet.

Completely understand your point there. I also get and understand the frustration a lot of us feel because as progressives/leftists we are stuck with a party that loves to claim its a big tent and while continuing to get pulled to right while at best paying some lip service to those of us on the left.

That tweet and that question, makes it so it strips out a ton of context. How this country evaluates/thinks about the role of President is all over the place and at most times faulty. I think at the end of the day, the tweet is dumb and using anything from Reagan as some guiding light to evaluating a politician is idiotic.

I also do wonder if we will see more direct action from Democrats at the national level as the older generation finally let their claws off the power as they die. You are seeing a kind of flip in thinking with "younger" Democratic politicians at the state level when they finally gain full control in places like Michigan and Minnesota. I know from Michigan, I would not call our governor progressive but the immediate action on things like unions, abortion rights, and lgbtq+ rights has made me cautiously hopeful.

I said it before in here but the Dem leadership/elders are all silent/boomers that are still terrified of their own shadows because they all got elected in the late 70s/80s/early 90s during the Reagan Revolution. And the GenXers are only marginally better because GenX sucks overall but also yeah they grew up with more conservative leadership so that’s what they learned from. Flip side of that is the GenXers definitely seem at least moderately more annoyed with their Republican colleagues than their boomer elders do
