My favorite beer deal was growing up with the bartender so he just gave me whatever I wanted because the bar was so shitty it sold most of its beer straight from the cooler

 

see if it’s this cheap that’s actually bad lol. We do not want to encourage drinking THIS much, dangerous consequences

I mean, my sense is most current college kids have a healthier drinking attitude than we did 10-15 years ago...but, also, sometimes you need a place like this so you know where the line is. Like "oh, this is where my boyfriend goes every Thurs night...I need a new bf" level stuff.

I'm in college now and can confirm. It's WILD. Everyone is making sure people were good to drive and making sure people had water.

 

Though maybe I went from one extreme to the other cause I tell people about high school now and they're worried

 

I literally lived across the street from the bar half of my time there so it was fine but I get it. After that my friend group just shared and it wasn’t an everybody free for all.

Living catty corner from The Swamp sucked fyi so it was not fun and games

Great location. Idk about the school itself. I just know Morgantown is dope and it's a HUGE party school

 

Yeah, this was the sense I got. Which, we drank way too much, but, that Penny Bar was the chill bar...everyone put a $5 bill down on the bar, got a $4 pitcher and left the dollar as a tip. The glasses were basically the 8-10oz style dorm dining hall glasses, so a pitcher might even get everyone 2 fills before it got refreshed. If the keg kicked while it was filling, you got whatever portion of that pitcher filled for free.

Lovely place. The cover charge/cheap drinks/watch for what might get dropped in your drink bar was 3 blocks away because the Penny Bar owner banned you if you swore in front of a woman

 

this is like thinking you hate vegetables bc you’ve only had them steamed

If I had to pick between mid-atlantic party schools, feels like Penn State/IUP/etc are infinitely worse choices than Morgantown. Way less pretty. Way colder. Way more strict rather than accepting what they are.

Steamed or WILDLY overcooked. I thought squash and asparagus were the worst. Turns out if you don't cook them for twice as long as the meat, they're good

grog is literally the most disgusting bar i’ve ever been to (and would go to like weekly), literal puddles of beer and piss and puke water constantly streaming from the bathroom to the main floor lol

also abysmal staff

 

i’m glad i don’t live in gainesville anymore, as fun as it was. not that i recognize it much anymore, downtown and midtown are unrecognizable

 

i mostly hate how accurate this is
