I won’t be able to buy a home for at least 5-10 more years (I’m 30)

 

Honestly I kind of get it. Most people blame the president when things go wrong. Republicans will hammer home the message that it's Biden's fault, that they had a proposal in place to lower debt and he did nothing. The whole 14th Amendment argument will be used in their messaging too. They use that as an example of another tool Biden had but didn't use.

Granted, I am pretty cynical about how informed the average American voter is going into an election. But that is the Republican playbook and it'll probably be effective.

 

The fact that this administration did not use the easy out of not contesting the lawsuit that federal employees filed against them in regards to Biden not using the 14th amendment and instead deciding to negotiate with these devils is insane. I swear if Ron Klain was there this shit would not be happening. I hate that I am longing for Ron Klain of all fucking people but at least he seemed somewhat interested in dealing with progressives.

Regarding the politician salary discussion that I missed: I think state-level politicians should get paid way more. Salary-wise it's basically treated like a part-time job for them. So the idea of "only people with enough money / time on their hands can do it" seems to be very clear to me in that case.

currently in the negotiations committee meeting for my local union where we’re finding out district is only offering us half of what we wanted at a minimum as a raise and asking us to extend the existing contract at that rate for a year. Basically they want to put off negotiations until we go to referendum and hopefully the district gets more money, and they’re saying they can only afford to give us half of the raise we want for the year to do it. Good times

 

All cities should be starting micro-transit programs. Fuck these companies.
