How is that first six weeks any different than what Goff had last year?

you know I’m not the most optimistic about Goff but pretending he wasn’t good last year just ain’t it. He proved me extremely wrong last year and I hope he does again this year.

Claypool going absolutely bananas against the Eagles dogshit defense in 2020 fooled people into thinking he was good

I’m just deeply confused as to why the defense is allowed to get better while the offense, which I’ve heard was top five last year, is just supposed to remain top five as if regression doesn’t exist.

Just because the offense is mostly the same players as last year means we should expect it to perform just as well, if not better, as if it’s not allowed to take a step back?

Even if the offense regresses to top 10 that would still be good? Gibbs is going to be a receiving threat out of the backfield that we didn’t really have. Reynolds and St Brown are still going to improve. Laporta can easily be a receiving threat out the gate. The offensive line is going to be as good if not better. Yeah, the WR depth will be tough to start the year until Williams is back, but I don’t think we’re just going to see a massive regression in the offense.

I’m also not expecting the defense to take a massive jump. They played better the back half of the year, have improved in free agency and the draft, and if they can even be middle of the pack, they’ll be fine.

It’s the first time I’ve had hope in this team in probably like a decade. Idk. Sorry that I think this could finally be the year they break through with the improvements they made

I personally would prefer a top-10 offense and top-20 defense than a top-5 offense and bottom-5 defense. Idk if that’s where they will land for each category but oh well.

Just looks like it’s gonna be a small ball offense to for the first third of the season and they’re expecting a lot from a rookie TE, many of whom make little impact as rookies, and a WR who barely played as a rookie due to recovering from injury and now is going to miss extensive time on a suspension.

I’m just confused because I said this about them:

Which, to me, seems like we both think they will be fine so I don’t know why I’m getting pushback.

Lions also lost 5 games by 4 points or fewer last year. I wouldnt be shocked if they win the North this season.

Well, yeah, they are the betting favorites to win it last I checked. Look at the division they play in. Their fiercest competition is the Vikings who were the paper tigers of all paper tigers last year
