Yeah they lean into the cringe side of "we're emo" a little too hard for me

Good band, talented, but, did not choose to see them at Ottobar over the much better bands I wanted to see this past week and a half (seeing The National tonight YOLO)

 

Band is decent but the name is bad

 

I used to be into TWIABP, but they are awful live. Wish they leaned more into their post rock and ambient stuff on their albums and knock the borderline pop punk bullshit off

Maybe I’ll give them another chance, but I listened to Whenever, If Ever for the first time in many many year back in December and just did not fuck with it anymore

Gonna start a band called The Existential Dread Felt Making A PB&J Sandwich

 

I get that but I do feel like people are terrified to change their mind and I don't get that at all, I'm totally okay feeling like something is amazing and saying it, and then having it age badly and changing my mind, or vice versa

 

Things to make that name even worse:

-It's actually the name of a 1972 novel. You have to search "the goalie's anxiety at the penalty kick BAND" to find them. It's not even like they came up with it or something

-their bandcamp page is thegoalie.bandcamp .... why the fuck aren't you just called The Goalie. That name actually stands out without being obnoxious as hell

 

Same. To me it's just more genuine when we're talking about something subjective and non-serious like music or sports to express what you're thinking at the moment than to try to withhold judgment on false pretense of having a "better" or "worse" opinion

 

My son is currently obsessed with Super Mario and Spidey and his Amazing Friends. Apparently Patrick Stump does the music for Spidey, so their music is definitely bearable for car rides.
