I thought Thorns was just okay. The mix really lacks the punch that Renacer had, which makes many of the songs on Thorns come across flat. I also don’t think the songs on Thorns were as strong as the ones on Renacer, but there are still some great songs on Thorns and I appreciated that they continued going in the direction they started going in with Renacer.

Shame they didn’t continue because the last two albums have easily been their worst albums since LIEY.

Also, My Fear of an Unlived Life is easily one of the best songs this band has done

I didn’t see them at all during their best era so it’s my fault we’ve lost that

I think Light was pretty good, the new one I agree is not.

Randomly checked this thread and I genuinely had no idea they put out an album after If There Is Light.

  8. After If There Is Light, wasn’t their plans to release two albums as the follow up or is this something I’ve imagined

I think it was supposed to be a double album called “What the Thunder Said, Hell Is in Your Head” or something along those lines

It was, but then it was changed to one album with the reduced title it was put out as.

Debating going tomorrow, but it’s a bit of a hike for me. I haven’t seen them in a long long time and setlist is tempting me as I haven’t liked anything after renacer. Live videos on YouTube haven’t been giving me a lot of confidence - can’t tell if it’s the recording or if the mix/vocals are consistently bad. Suggestions?

Only one song from the the album that this tour is for? Their setlists are so weird. I shouldn't complain though, since I don't really like the new album much.

  14. It did not, hah. IIRC there was one word (granted, a deserving one) changed on the entire record and it was in Handguns and Second Chances

Is this why this band doesn’t play shit from Renacer anymore?

I love Renacer but it's comical at this point just how much of this thread is just whining about everything that isn't Renacer

In all seriousness, I just can’t imagine paying money to see this band, who is right albums deep now, and watching them do a nu metal medley of 20+ year old songs or Free Bird.

I say this as someone who still enjoys the majority of their discography from SS to Thorns. It’s just ridiculous that their setlists have very clearly become heavily weighted towards their first two albums for nostalgia and their last two albums.

The middle four albums have just become afterthoughts. FTDOD seemingly gets more run too. Forgive me for feeling disappointed. Comical, I know.

I feel this. According to my setlist.fm page, I've seen them 13 times. I love the band. I love their entire discography. The live show these days feels kind of like a fuck you to fans like me, and maybe fans like me aren't the lifeblood of the band? I don't know, truly. But I have no interest in paying to see them play 15 songs from 20 years ago and a nu metal medley they've been playing for 5 years. I completely get that you need to play a lot of the older stuff to engage the fans who maybe don't know every word on The Fire, etc., but to just pretend most of your discography doesn't exist when there are fans out there who count those albums as your best, it's just a huge bummer and definitely not worth the price of admission (for me anyway)

Isn’t it the same issue of any band that peaked in popularity 20 years ago? Blink-182, Motion City, Yellowcard, Good Charlotte, Taking Back Sunday, New Found Glory. 75% of their set lists are gonna be from their first few popular albums.

Set list song choices aside, that nu metal medley has long past run it’s course and has no business clogging up real estate on the set list.

I think it makes sense for a festival set but not a headlining set.

I promise you the majority of people going to Senses Fail shows in 2023 are hoping to to hear mostly just songs from their first few albums.
