Does stairs sound exactly like a jimmy eat world song to anyone else?

As someone who lives at home at 26 "Stairs" is pretty relatable.

I have no stairs though...so maybe it's not?

i dont know if it will be in my top 10. i imagine a lot of people saying it will dont actually know either. i dont think about how things rank until december, no real reason to because nothings ever set it stone. i get the impulse to do it but it never makes sense to me personally. i can love a record to death without knowing if it will end up or without it actually ending up in my top 10 you know?

its the internet in 2016. everyone has to have an immediate opinion on something and it kinda sucks.

i dont know if the internet is responsible for the ranking thing in particular. well maybe. it,,, hard to say

I think you're spot on with this even if I don't admit it sometimes. I often get caught up in the ranking machine, and it's something I want to work on avoiding. There are obvious exceptions, though, that to me at least aren't an issue. For example, I have absolutely zero doubt that Goodness will be in my top 5. But other than that I want to try and just let things simmer and avoid trying to place albums in lists prematurely.

yeah like ive got my top 3 set in stone (even tho i just said nothings ever set in stone lmao) and havent thought about the rest at all since june. like i said i get the impulse to try and figure out how everythings gonna slot immediately when you hear it but the last couple years ive realized how pointless it is. i mean if people wanna go for it they're more than welcome! its just disheartening when i see someone say "i must not like it as much as you all since its not my top 10" or whatever when really thats not a true measure for how much someone likes an album, everyone puts their lists together differently. theres just an obsession with these rankings that can sometimes stop people from judging an album on its own and instead they end up judging it against other records arbitrarily.

I gave up trying to rank albums midway through this year. Too much good stuff, come December I'll just put them in whatever order feels right. I feel like I've said "this could be a top 3 release" this year way too many times, and I always meant it lol.

Angel in the Snow, Last You Heard of Me, Stairs, and Over Before it Began are probably my favorites after a few listens. This album honestly surprised me of how power-poppy it turned out to be and how strong some of the melodies are. I didn't know what to think of it after my first listen after somewhat expecting more of a NHA sound from them. However after said few listens, I can now totally see them getting to this point in hindsight and I think they are capable of pursing that sort of sound. I like it more and more after every listen.
