Lover Fest wasn’t even bad and it was only going to be four dates in the US before Covid canceled it. I got a platinum floor ticket in Boston for a little over $600 about a month or so after they went on sale, but before the world turned upside down.

It’s wild how much bigger she got ever since her run post-Folklore. It doesn’t even seem like it should be humanly possible since she was so massive already.

    That'd be fun. I’d be down for a self-titled album-play

I think the issue with Taylor trying to reclaim tickets is that the demand for that on sale would still be insane, and even if every ticket goes to a fan, a lot of people would still miss out and end up pissed off all over again. This is a tour that has tens of thousands of people gathering outside of the stadiums just to be able to hear.

still would look better than what is currently being done, which is nothing.

    Things have changed.

There are very simple things Ticketmaster is not doing that could solve this, like putting a cart timer on the newly released tickets to prevent bots from always checking out first. Or even, wild thought, preventing scalpers from having entire rows of inventory when the ticket limit was 4 or whatever. But no party is interested in doing anything.

Ticketmaster doesn't control the inventory, the promoter/band/venue does. I think those big blocks of seats you see are usually when brokers/season ticket holders have pre-aranged deals (such as when acts scalp their own tickets or if they are like...a season ticket holder with the arena/stadium).

As The Cure proved you CAN put in a ton of barriers which the Eras tour did not. Non-transferrable in states that allow it, fan exchange face value resale on TM. Her team DID not allow premium pricing and turn off resale so, in reality, it's like less than 1% of tickets on secondary markets. That coupled with the demand is why those prices are so high.

Yes, sorry I was inarticulate and lumped TM together with all the other invested parties! But regardless of who is to blame, there's absolutely no reason entire rows of seats should be up on resale sites when there were strict ticket limits. It's so gross.

Lol. They own most of the venues, promote the shows and manage a lot of the bands that play their venues. TM absolutely does have a big part in controlling ticket inventory.

Oh damn, I was kinda expecting them on Riot Fest. With that routing, looks like it might have been in the works and fell through.

Maybe and aftershow? There has been some years where some bands that doesnt play the fest play an aftershow

Yeah, or maybe they'll do some local holiday shows like the did in 2019. Either way, I need an AF show, this year if possible.

They can do both. As in 2019 they play Riot and the holiday shows

Ticketmaster doesn't own ANY venues nor are they the promoter. They're the ticketing platform that enters into contracts with venues. Promoters (Live Nation, Bowery Presents/AEG, etc) work with the artist to determine ticket price, usually based on the artists guarantee. All ticketing inventory is dictated by the artist/promoter.

Live nation owns TM. Live Nation operates the vast majority of venues around the country even if they don’t outright own them. They are the dominant force in the event industry. I think it’s funny that you don’t think they are manipulating the ticket market. That’s rather naive lol
