    The rivalry is back on

The fact that Hakeem Butler and Terry McLaurin are from the same draft class is wild to me

  9. I'm biased because he's on the Steelers and went to Pitt lol. But I do think he's got that dawg in him. Four game winning drives last year as a rookie. Has gotten better every year he's played football. I think with a full off-season as the starter and getting all of the first team reps will be huge and we will see a big improvement. I honestly have no idea if he can be a franchise guy or not but I'm just excited to have moved on from Ben. Just talking strictly football, the Steelers were not fun to watch the last few years of his career.

And of course I love Kenny's gigantic hands.

I think on paper the AFC South is winnable but in reality the three rookie led teams will probably knock themselves all out.

I feel the opposite, on paper the AFC South belongs to the Jaguars but in reality a rookie led team could easily take it over

And then get eliminated from the playoffs swiftly but I digress

ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh its not winnable if the Jags can be at least competent.

Texans defense is potentially terrifying if the young guys can live up to their draft position, Anthony Richardson could be a big boost for the Colts passing attack and open up JT a ton (to me Richardson seems like the guy that looks amazing in the rookie year and follows it up with who knows what direction), and the Titans are also in the division and just do what they want and for some reason it sometimes works. I don't think "at least competent" is the bar because any of those "at least competent" games can become an upset quickly.

With that said I do think the Jaguars are better than competent

My issue with projections have always been I never revert to the average enough. Texans and Colts aren't gonna finish bottom three but they're still rookie led teams with rookie head coaches. They're going to be worrisome moving forward but I think this first year everyone has struggles

I don't feel that way about the regular season, I very much do about the playoffs and think the Jaguars are the only team that can do anything in the playoffs. But I get your point for sure, I just know the high ceiling is something to fear, especially when film is limited

Oh yeah for sure. I'm not projecting a division sweep (just a Titans sweep ) or anything. A key thing though is the Jags get the Colts twice in six games. That enough time for the new blood to figure things out?

My big question is whether or not the new blood actually has to figure things out, or if they just surprise and basically become the outliers. I think of it more as one of those teams having "that one season" like a less threatening version of 2017 Jags where no one actually knows how to gameplan for them and then regressing to the mean in the next couple of seasons.

Of course this does go back to just making predictions in general, which is your original point, and if you HAVE to pick a team, there's only one to reliably pick.

counterpoint: Frank Reich is gone and hopefully with him goes the @JAX curse and being absolutely dreadful in the first month and a half of the season

Gardiner Minshew over the Jags in a week 1 revenge game before anyone knows what this particular iteration of Colts looks like feels like a scarier trap game than a random week 13 game

I think the jags win 5 of their 6 divisional games, splitting Indy. Theyre beating the Falcons, Bucs, and probably panthers. The Saints and Steelers are very possible Ws. If they can steal one of the Ravens, Bengals, or 49ers games, I think they have a real honest shot at 10 or 11 wins. No other team in that division is sniffing that this season.

Splitting Tennessee is more likely than splitting Indy I think
