I don’t think FFP is what fixes it. What would fix it is a better owners test. I think a few fixes need to be made.

Firstly, it should be overseen by an independent committee. Not connected to a club or the PL.

It should also take in to account things such as moral issues. I also don’t think anyone connected closely to a government or royal family in any country should be allowed to own a club.

I also think you should have to reside primarily in this country, and be taxed accordingly.

The biggest one should be that owners have an ongoing requirement to provide financial stability. Break that and the club should be taken from you and sold to someone who will be financially sound in order to pay the debts. Similarly, if you are found guilty of financial cheating, you should get immediately relegated at the end of the season as the last placed team.

Sadly, it’ll probably never happen and as said above, it’s 15 years too late.

I know we have multiple Michigan people in here, but I think only @Joe4th is Detroit, but if you only had one meal in downtown Detroit near Ford Field, where would you eat? @TheGuyfkaFringeofLunacy and @bigmike, you guys are GR, right? Any input?

What price range and what type of food are you thinking?

Any and all, tbh. Local legend is always a favorite. A friend and I are literally driving in, eating, seeing Taylor, sleeping, and driving out, haha.

Union Assembly is a good casual spot not far from the stadium, same with Frita’s.

If you want pizza, Brass Rail is my favorite in the area.

Sweetwater Tavern has my favorite wings in town.

Bucharest has my favorite shawarma, also a casual spot too.

Bakersfield if you’re feeling Mexican food.

For something more upscale, I’ve heard great things about Grey Ghost but personally have never been.

I know you said one place but it’s hard to pick haha this hopefully helps and gives you options, I’m sure the other two can chime in too and narrow it down!

I don’t spend much time in Detroit proper @Garrett so I’m not of a ton of help here.

Nope, since Mike is over by Joe and I now or will be, we are technically in that Detroit area bubble.

So, locking into that location is tough because I would send you in thousand other directions for "one meal" recommendations. The stuff around the arena area is super hit or miss and then has potential to be super busy if you are doing day of the concert.

My suggestion would be to do Mable Grey and get the tasting menu. That place is has one of the top meals of my life but that is also out in Hazel Park so not exactly close to the arena or downtown.

But for places closer to the arena and in the Midtown/Corktown area (spots closer to the arena district), I will group them into more of those foodie spots and then other stuff.

    Foodie Places ($$-$$$)
    Grey Ghost
    Selden Standard
    Basan
    Mad Nice

    Other spots
    Detroit Shipping Company
    The Peterboro
    Honest Johns
Michigan & Trumball - If you are wanting to get some Detroit Style Pizza this would be the best and closest spot.

Joe gave you a solid list as well, some of these places on my list I have not been myself but have been either on my list to try or been recommended by folks I trust.

Jolly Pumpkin had a breakfast pizza that resurrected me from a hangover once. Love that place

    Thank you, gentlemen!

  15. I believe I said “can’t wait for the report that says the opposite” when it came out that we had no interest/he declined.

  16. Putting the pieces together…

Nagelsmann - wants to make sure he works for/with a sporting director that he likes and/or will give him power.

Tottenham - currently searching for a sporting director, may or may not be someone Nagelsmann wants/likes.

Club wants to hire a sporting director first, then a manager. Nagelsmann doesn’t want to agree before knowing who the club hires and may have even suggested names that the club didn’t like.

And if this is roughly the situation, I’m all for hiring the right sporting director first and then start to narrow down manager targets, regardless if it leads to Nagelsmann or not.

Sad to see Granit go. I've always been a defender of his, and to see him turn it around this season and get his own song has been truly special. I wanted to see him lift the PL trophy but equally, I'm happy that he's bowing out on an absolutely brilliant season where he's been a star midfielder in the league.

Also, hearing rumours that the Rice deal is looking incredibly likely now and we're submitting an official bid soon. And as much as I love Granit, that's a big upgrade. I just hope we give him a real send off on the final day.

  18. Luton tied up the aggregate in the first 10 minutes against Sunderland. Should be a good game.

  19. wow very clear handball in the box and Sunderland not awarded a pen.

Luton thoroughly deserve their 2-0 lead. Sunderland need to wake up because it could get worse very quickly.

This is a really interesting thread.

MNF had Howard Webb on, and they showcased five different VAR decisions, including one mistake, and let you hear the communication for the first time.

They also spoke about how they want this to be a more regular thing so that fans can hear the reasoning behind decisions.
