Yeah I can’t see him going to a young upstart team, and I can’t see a contender actually pursuing him so soon. at least not this offseason

Doc takes a year off and does tv or something probably.

I can't remember the last time the coaching carousel was this crazy in one year. I suppose it's just society's growing desire for instant gratification permeating yet another walk of life. And yet even with so many high caliber options, you know someone is still getting duped into giving Doc another gig.

Maybe I'm pessimistic, but I don't see Nurse or Bud as a particularly significant different from Doc. They're all 1 championship retread coaches at this point.

Yeah doc would’ve made a lot of sense in atl had they not went with quin but probably only a few playoff teams for him to tryout for

Well both turned their teams into championship contenders while he had the boston big three, the clippers clusterfuck of good players and the sixers with one of the best big men of all time.

JB seems like a great guy to turn around young teams and build a good, winning culture, which he has undoubtedly done in Cleveland. Turned the Cavs from a very bad team into a good-to-great team. But the Cavs are on a whole new timeline now with Donovan. I don't think JB is going to be the guy to turn them from good/great into elite/championship level. He was awful in the playoffs and still does a lot of head-scratching X's and O's stuff and has been consistently awful with rotations.

Personally think the Cavs have gotten all that they could out of JB. He'll be on a super short leash this winter and for sure canned if we don't win at least 2 rounds next year.

Nurse turning his team into a championship contender is kinda revisionist history when you consider the Leonard of it all, no?

Also helps having Curry, Durant, Thompson and Iggy get injured during the playoffs.

This is kinda my point. I can poke holes in all three of their resumes, and all three have regular season success and 1 ring. So it's odd to me that Nurse and Bud are hot commodities and Doc is the one who some team is getting "stuck with."

Personally none of the three would be my ideal. I'd be looking for an up and coming assistant or college coach and pair them with a seasoned Assistant Coach.

Yeah, the way coaches are judged is kind of inconsistent, both good and bad. Doc gets more credit than he probably deserves because he had that stacked Boston roster and they won, whereas Monty Williams got stuck with a top-heavy roster after the Durant trade and became the scapegoat. I'm not his biggest fan, but people forget Phoenix was terrible not that long ago, and their margin for error this postseason was thin after gutting their roster.

i think the difference for Bud at least is showing an ability to build a team that's kinda aimless and install a direction. Nurse is a better Xs and Os coach than both in terms of in-game adjustments and schemes. if people are mad at Doc for the supposed lack of adjustments (again, can't really say it's on him when Harden and Embiid score 24 combined lol) they aren't going to be happy with Bud lol.

That's my thing. 100% of coaches lose when Jayson Tatum goes for 51 and is in This Is My Shit mode and your two stars are a combined -58. Feels like a total scapegoat. Like, I don't think Doc is great, but he's exactly who they hired and now they're displeased and are gonna hire....another Doc? haha

Feels like a lot of work to avoid blaming your two superstars.

oh, for sure. i feel like i said that haha but maybe i didn't. both philly and phoenix firing their coaches feels like teams unwilling to hold supposed stars accountable.
