I don't disagree that everyone needs to try to hear voices outside their bubble more often. Hearing different perspectives helps shape ideas and grow societies. But they also don't have to hear from people known to lie, argue in bad faith, or known to be hateful/racist/sexist/etc. At this point (or probably any point in history) there's no need to "hear them out" for people like Trump, MTG, Ben Shapiro, Elon Musk, etc. These people aren't trying to help people other than themselves or to put forth genuine ideas. They're just grifters and morons.

 

You definitely don’t need to hear them to the sound of cheers and applause!

 

You also don’t need to hear a single word from Trump and pretend it’s just a policy disagreement or some such when he spews vile hatred.

 

That is the entire problem that I have with what Anderson Cooper did: him framing what CNN did with trump this way and trying to sell it after the fact in this manner is not just extremely disingenuous - although it is certainly that - but it's also extremely dangerous and insidious.

Yeah its like how people disingenuously argue in favor of Rogan having people from the right on. Its like that is not really my point, its that you let them on and then just give them a big warm hug of zero pushback. In the case of CNN, they kind of tried to push back but you look like fucking dorks and enablers having it set up the way they did.
