I don't think you have to worry about that, they've played it at every single show since it debuted in November. Adrianne just recorded it for her solo album so that will probably be the first studio version we hear. 95% sure this hasn't been recorded in studio by the full band yet, along with like 15 other songs they've played recently

 

I really hope they terminal paradise that shit and give us a full band version on record

In that video, she says that she has a rule with Twain that songs written on tour need to be played on the same tour. That would explain why there are always new solo songs.

Last night was one of the best live performances I’ve seen in ages, like truly restored my faith in going to concerts. Sound was amazing and the audience really well behaved, and all the details to a great concert were clearly given attention to.

The version of “Dragon” they played really blew me away, was totally caught off guard by how great that was, and they followed that with this really dynamic performance of “Sparrow” that hit this incredible crescendo at the end. Band was on fire.

One week until the next tour leg starts. After the previous run ended, Max posted some stories from tour including one of them at Scott McMicken's new space in Asheville. Not sure if they were recording or just jamming but that was the first sign I've seen of them potentially recording since 2020. Second sign is this post from James yesterday, looking for a recording studio in Barcelona.

Part 3 of the Vampire Empire post saga. From Adrianne's stories, they were definitely recording at Teatre de ca l'Eril in Guissona, Spain (1hr outside of Barcelona) on their day off on Tuesday. And it looks to me like they were recording the 'ahh's that they just added to Vampire Empire

Right? The amount of new songs they debut per tour is silly. Plus who even knows how many of the other 20 songs from the dragon sessions we’ve even heard on top of all this.

 

Max posted some other instagram stories from Guissona, including clips of recording Vampire Empire and Born For Loving You. Looks like they were there for roughly 48 hours and Dom Monks was engineering (previously engineered UFOF and the Colorado DNWMIBIY session) so it seems like it was a proper session and not just some fun demoing abroad

Some BT comments from James:
- They recorded 2 songs in Guissona, one includes a clap track.
- He really liked recording mid-tour and is interested in doing that again in the future.
- In early July, all of Big Thief plus Mat Davidson (Twain) and Zach Burba (iji) are recording a Tucker Zimmerman album at/near Adrianne's house.
- James is working on a new solo album that's a metal children's album based around some big mythology that he's making up. It's going to have a lot of crazy outlandish vocal performances and cowrites. Sounds like it's in the fairly early stages.

 

The band will host a BBC Radio 6 show later this summer, 8 shows I believe starting July 3rd.

Vampire Empire is the greatest song I have ever heard in my life

 

Adrianne went live on Instagram a bit ago, here is the archived video of it (probably won't stay up for long). Just goofing around singing while driving with Mary Remington, probably making their way down to Texas for Kerrville Folk Fest where they're playing in 2 weeks. The connection wasn't great so it's a bit choppy at the beginning.

 

Catching up on all the new stuff this morning. “Born For Loving You” is so lovely, wish that was my wedding song lol.

 

Still blown away by Adrianne’s ear for melody. Special talent.
