Vodka for me because the dogs have fleas. Haven’t had them since switching to the flea meds our vet recommended so it has to be the yard. Landlord better fucking do something about it.

and I also drank an Astrodon by Peabody Heights on the way there because fuck the police

 

successfully found the most annoying possible gift to give my wife for her birthday

On the way home, I also randomly walked by a metal concert happening at an open air venue - it was audible and visible from the walkway on the next pier. You can’t tell from this iPhone photo… but I could clearly see the drummer, two guitarists, and what was being displayed on the stage projector screen. Sound wasn’t too bad from that far out either.



I’m not the biggest metal fan, I only really like stoner metal & some prog-metal hybrid bands (like Baroness etc). No one was on stage at first - I was gonna just go home because there was a 90% chance it wouldn’t be my thing… but there was a countdown on the screen that started right when I got there, so I was like what the hell I’ll stay for a song.

turns out, it was Gojira / Mastodon / Lorna Shore, 3 of the best stoner metal bands in the business right now lol. One of the only metal shows I’d pay money to see. Unfortunately I missed the latter two (Mastodon is my favorite of the 3) but Gojira fucking played AWESOME

 

gojira puts on one of the more sick live shows you can see, saw them with deafheaven in 2019

 

Bummed I missed most of Gojira’s set last year when I saw them open for Deftones. Wasn’t into the last album, but they were so good from the few songs I saw them play

Mastodon is good live too. Saw them with Coheed and ETID back in 2019 and they play Crack the Skye in its entirety plus a handful of other songs
