I can handle a band having a subpar vocalist if the band is good and they’re competent at playing an instrument, for me vocals aren’t everything, I like plenty of bands where I think the vocals aren’t great and sometimes it can be endearing because it’s genuine

but if you don’t play guitar AND you suck at singing then what do you do? Get tattoos and jump around doing karaoke? That’s lame, bands like that should simply kick that moocher out of the band and go get a better vocalist lol. If you’re gonna do vocals only you should probably be good at it

 

Where is the talk about the Ravens/Titans game across the pond? Who’s coming with me?

Lmao I could theoretically go stay in the UK Sept 30 - Oct 16 and see both Jags games and the Ravens game. I could work my job while I was there.

but damn it would be cool to see both Wembley and Tottenham, get a closer look at more of London than the 1.5 days I spent there when I was 16, see the Jags own the Bills in London (again) and then see the Ravens take a dump on the Titans

I’d probably also go to every songwriter open mic I could find, I would street busk, and I’d establish a goal of gaining 300+ fans in London in those two weeks

 

Unfortunately I'm at the wrong end of the country. I realise how dumb that sounds to Americans who regularly drive like 12+ hours for events haha. However I absolutely am going to try and get tickets for as many of the games as I can and would be 100% down for beers with anyone from the thread!

Can you give some insight on what neighborhoods or areas are best to stay for general tourist stuff? I have no concept of London and don't know anyone personally who does. Given you're at the other end of the country, I recognize it'd be like someone asking me where to stay in Houston when I live in Baltimore, but still figured it's worth a shot.

Yeah drives up to 8 hours can be somewhat enjoyable sight seeing trips if you are excited about where you’re going and have good music

10 hours and above is hell though and it’s impossible to do that whole drive without getting extremely stressed and angry at everyone else on the road at some point.

Jax to NOLA is 9.5 hours… Maryland to Jax is 11 hours… hate both those drives. But Jax to Nashville (8 hours), DC to Boston (8 hours), DC to Niagara Falls (8 hours)… those were pretty nice

 

The fact that you claimed DC->Boston is "pretty nice" is honestly the most outlandish take since chip/dip-gate 2022

the “nicest” drive i ever took was anaheim to san diego but that was like less than 2 hours but scenic A F. driving around the northeast in the fall can also be objectively “nice” bc leafs and trees and shit.

 

It’s trash in New Jersey. But New Jersey is pretty small and you can take the much nicer 295 all the way up until you get to Princeton. NJ turnpike is my least favorite part of the drive.

We drove at a weird hour so we could dodge a lot of New York traffic, and the city views were intense. And then I remember seeing the sides of cliffs and gorgeous forests thru parts of Connecticut and Rhode Island as the sun was rising.
