Yeah, after seeing his IG post, it's the nail in the coffin for me. Wild to see how quickly this band has ruined their reputation for me in less than two months. They clearly give zero fucks about who they associate with. Fans in the current crowds don't give a shit if they're already there for Ronnie. I'm pretty bummed after following their journey for so long. I watched their 2nd show back after they reunited and I've seen them twice since then. Spent tons on vinyl and merch. Heck, I liked their merch designs so much I'd alternate being 3-4 of their shirts on a frequent basis.

I just don't understand how we got from the careers highs (for me) of Digital Ghost and Voyeurist to becoming straight garbage. I'll stick around to watch the eventual fallout and implosion of this band. Grant should probably watch his back at this point. So long Underoath.:peace:

He is legend put out suck out the poison and lost all the momentum they had. I've toured with Aaron and think he's a dick but he didn't somehow "blacklist" them and stop them from being played on satellite radio LOL

  15. I assume being paired with mismatched scenecore bands on tour pre-hiatus and the hiatus itself didn't help. The latter wasn't long but it felt like they were starting over when Heavy Fruit came out.

I'm assuming we're going to get a new song before this summer tour. I'll check it out but my views of the band have definitely been hampered by a lot of this. The momentum has been lost coming out of the reunion to Erase Me to Observatory streams to Voyeurist to Digital Ghost.

They were the only other band I variant collected for vinyl and now I think I need to sell off a bunch of my vinyl

We reach for the longest shadow

Honestly, any enjoyment of post-hiatus Underoath has been in spite of what they're saying in interviews/who they're performing with/most of the lyrical content. As soon as On My Teeth came out, I thought the track ruled aside from the fact that lyrically they took the route of a post-Christian band that just wants to childishly bash all religion, when they were so staunch before that. It didn't feel authentic, and for most who come from that background, it's a lot more nuanced than that. Felt like they saw BMTH having success being edgy and hating on religion and thought, "Yeah, that's what we want to do now."

    Maybe that's just me though.

EDIT: I'm with everyone else, and think HIL is vastly underrated, but not sure I buy the blacklist stuff. No one made you sign to Solid State at the height of christian metalcore. You knew what you were signing up for.

i feel like your point of seeing BMTH having success and copying it can describe a vast majority of -core bands since around 2015 lol

Probably. I don't really have an ear to the ground with modern metalcore, I mostly just check out the bands that I've known about for years that are mostly old guard now.
