Very short version:

Late stage capitalism has too much price collusion and stock market manipulation for the basic assumptions of “market equilibrium” to apply in a lot of cases. Some markets are rigged and our government is complicit

 

Nothing says "Randall" more than seeing these responses and being like "I should share some of it here"

Fair. Not trying to educate anyone, apologies if it came off condescending or didactic in that way. It’s really more of a tangent because I think it’s bullshit we still teach economics like that in colleges

 

I only took the two required econ classes in college. It's a fake area of study imo.

 

Certainly not news news but the Ravens general manager went on their in house podcast and said he wants to sign Patrick Queen to an extension - I would be cool with that as long as he keeps up his play from last season, maybe he will get an extension midway through the season if he keeps it up. Him and Roquan Smith looked really good. I think he is a locker room guy and that would help, Calais leaving is big for that and idk if Justin Houston wants to come back or keep playing in general. Gotta have that veteran presence

 

Ravens keeping Queen after they traded for Roquan, and finally signing Lamar, just warms my whole soul. Give me a healthy Bateman and let’s get a stew boiling baby

 

they just declined his option and drafted Trenton Simpson high, that's weird

 

Yeah I think that had more to do with leaving room for the Lamar deal and other financial stuff. Isn't Simpson more of a rusher? We will see, he could be blowing smoke and/or hoping PQ is willing to take a more reasonable deal seeing as he didn't have so hot of a start. We can't pay two lbs 20+mil, I don't think so at least lol

 

All the AFC North teams seem to have a low difficulty. Interesting.

Declining the fifth year option also gives them flexibility to front load or back load that new deal to make room for Lamar

 

Divisions play essentially the same schedule other than like three games

 

I did an Econ major undergrad and it was good in that it gives you a lot of practice in applied problem solving (given XXX assumptions, how can you mathematically or logically solve this problem), and outside of being a generally decent person, that’s probably the most important business skill to have, so it’s good for preparing you for a job

it was not good in that the assumptions it has you make (especially at an undergrad level) are almost always wrong or heavily oversimplified so the actual concepts were mostly useless
