Okay, which character was Pete Davidson. I was told he was the ugliest thing in the movie. But that applies to a lot haha

The thing Mantis freed at the end, where she was clearly freaked out by something behind him.

    Clearly.

You don't remember that joke when they were freeing everyone toward the end and she freed this one weird looking thing and she freaked out and then immediately tried to walk it back?

I thought this film was okay. Better than Vol 2, but not as good as Vol 1. I liked the heavy focus on Rocket and the moments with Adam Warlock. Chris Pratt was good as Star-Lord and I liked Mantis. That said, I didn’t care much for the villain. He was just evil to be evil. Had no powers except his little gravity manipulator and we never actually saw him do much of anything, just him ordering people around.

I’m guessing Peter will be in the upcoming Avengers film as an earth based hero going forward which is nice.

I think it's okay to have a villain with no redeeming qualities. He wasn't evil just to be evil, although he was petty and sociopathic. He did believe in his purpose, although it was one borne of narcissism, seeing flaws in everything but refusing to accept any in himself. But you're not supposed to "see his point of view" or get behind him in any real way.

Actually, the more I think about it, his whole bag is not that far removed from a certain group of real world villains who also believed they were making a purer world with their horrifying actions.

Where would you all rank this trilogy with the other MCU trilogies? I’d probably go with

    1. Captain America
    2. Spider-Man
    3. Guardians of the Galaxy
    4. Iron Man
    5. Thor (Thor 1-3)
    6. Ant-Man

I'd probably rank Guardians higher than Spider-Man, but otherwise I agree with this.

The Dark Knight trilogy comes closer than any MCU trilogy but I think I'd still pick Guardians.

    1. Guardians
    2. Cap
    3. Spider Man
    4. Thor (Ragnarok carrying all the water here)
    5. Iron Man
    6. Ant Man

Guardians and Cap are basically interchangeable, but I give a slight edge to Guardians.

lol, not MCU trilogy ranking. I don’t like the best entry in any other Marvel Studios series more than whatever the worst Guardians film is; it’s not even close. But, I’m a major cynic of that machine these days, so whatever, y’all do you.

Anyways, I loved this one-last-ride so much. Surprisingly didn’t make me cry at all, but did leave my heart feeling very full. Such a silly, cool, fun celebration. The warmest parts for me were Lylla saying something about “the hands that guide the hands,” Drax finding meaning in being a dad, and Nebula saying she’s gonna give those kids the life she didn’t have. Also loved Mantis taming those tentacle thingies.

Btw, pour one out for the fabulous golden queen Ayesha (unless she secretly survived the explosions, idk whatever), as played by the stunning Elizabeth Debicki. Her, Her, Her! Think I’ve only seen her in these couple Guardians flicks & Tenet, but she’s so good at inhabiting some lady I adore purely off of ~vibes~, lol. Underrated minor villain in these movies.

Those details helped me remember the scene. But I don’t recall what he looked like. Oh well. At least I know what to look for. Thanks:

  19. Loved this. So many great moments and sequences. Gunn really did right by all these characters. Not sure where I'd rank it yet against the first two, but they're all 5/5 bangers.

Surprised the visual of the High Evolutionary's face getting peeled off is still considered pg-13.

I don’t think it was really any worse than Two-Face in The Dark Knight.

I liked the high evolutionary. I liked the simple yet effective story that he was brought down by his own obsession and hubris. He was brutal to his subjects and mad from power

Okay, wait. I'm really fucking confused now, because news outlets are reporting Gunn's character and Davidson's character as the same character...

I feel like they didn't care about identifying the characters correctly so much as reporting that the cameo existed.

    Very frustrating.
