I thought it was poignant in the first one when the prisoners are making fun of Rocket and he breaks down and says “I didn’t want to be this way,” but the experimentations were only hinted at. I wonder if it was Gunn’s plan to explore that in the third one all along.

I literally had chills when Rocket went to the 2000s playlist and the music started. Of all the songs to pick, that was just perfection.

Yea, the opening sequence was perfect and super relatable.

  6. I normally agree with Breakfast All Day but not here. I think I only agree with Chris Pratt still looking checked out, and in reality he was still just fine.

Something else that never worked for me was Mantis' delivery. Her jokes don't land most times and just sound awkward. That goes for Drax sometimes too. A little like Vol. II, the movie's biggest flaw is it overindulges in some elements like the comedy.

All in all I hope we still get more quality MCU entries like this. I didn't miss the Multiverse, easter eggs, or surprise cameos at all.

From what I see, the budget for this was higher, but it's still baffling how good this one looks and how poor Quantumania looks with both coming from the same studio.

This was perfect. Loved so much of it, cried a lot, smiled through nearly all of it. Gave me the same feeling I haven’t had since Endgame. Spidey 3 was close and Shang Chi is fucking great, but this had that classic MCU feel that has been missing from a lot of phase 4. Can’t describe it more than that really.

NEED to see it again ASAP.

Walked away happy and was misty eyed multiple times. Also walked away feeling how much James Gunn loves animals which made me so happy.

I have some story/character qualms (Adam Warlock was underwhelming for one) that will probably be eased some on multiple viewings but I really liked the back half and the ending.

Also glad the legendary Star-Lord will return and these characters got a “happy” ending.

Definitely a relief how good this was after how much I hated Quantumania.

I had no doubts this was going to be good. It’s everything else (Secret Invasion, The Marvels) that I’m still concerned for.

hope we get more Cosmo in the future, have her and Goose team up, she's a good dog and I have never found anything more relatable than obsessing over a perceived slight haha
wish Elizabeth Debicki and Will Poulter got more to do but I do like that pretty much all he does is call her mother
I love how much James Gunn was able to dictate the Guardians saga, not sure anyone else could get Nathan Fillion and a Replacements song in a Marvel movie
High Evolutionary was such a dumbass, of course if you make super intelligent creatures they'll learn to defy you, and running around for 2 hours on 30 calories a day isn't the next phase of evolution it's just doing drugs
Star Lord dying over a fucking IPOD would have been really funny but I understand why they didn't do that

I remember, I think, Kraglin gives him a Zune it’s the end of volume 2. I’d assume it’s still that Zune. I forget what they look like.

The loss of my 64gb Zune after dropping it in 2011 was the most devastating loss of technology I’ve ever experienced. I was lost for days

I saw this in IMAX at 8:30am this morning and loved every second of it. I don't have any detailed analysis because I'm still pretty wrecked from Rocket's backstory but this was the best time I've had in a theater in a while.

Apologies to the 15 other people in my screening when the first notes of Dog Days Are Over started playing -- I made a weird squeak/squeal and then proceeded to cry for the third time. I could not have asked for a more perfect song.

  22. Was IMAX worth it? A theater 1hr from me is showing it in IMAX 3D and I'm considering it though I don't care for the 3D.

Gunn confirmed that the Groot line was meant as the audience understanding him for the first time. Interesting.
