Lil Yachty and Jpeg/Danny for me as far as mainstream goes. Don Toliver and Rae Sremmurd albums were meh.

DJ Drama put out good gym music and Tyler's release was technically a deluxe.

The kids are waiting for Travis Scott to drop!

03 Greedo is the only standout hip hop release for me so far this year - I did like Rae Sremmurd but it's not something I've really returned to

new billy is gonna be so good yeah

I guess they're not exactly hip-hop but slowthai and Young Fathers are two of the best albums this year

also think Young Fathers doesn't really count as hip-hop but yeah that album is unreal.

  10. Navy Blue, Boldy, and Jehst are probably my genre top 3 right now. I don’t think it’s been a super dry year for hip hop or anything, but there’s not a lot that I’ve really found myself coming back to often

Creed 3 soundtrack has some cool stuff on it, it's basically just a Dreamville record

That’s… an interesting take. Definitely don’t agree and think you may be alone in that.

listening now and it's great, wavy, perfect for summer. honestly this feels like a more natural version of the sound yachty went for on his album, that tropi-psychedelic neosoul vibe. haven't heard much rapping yet, though, interestingly enough.

Tongue firmly in cheek haha. But I can probably name all the mainstream rap releases from the past 10/15 years I listen to regularly on one hand.

This could easily lead to a what’s and what’s not mainstream rap discussion again and I’m too tired for that again!

  23. Friend tagged me in a memory on Facebook involving "Bound 2" and it bummed me out so much. Been pretty easy for me to throw away most of my Kanye-related feelings/memories in lieu of everything, but this one got me, probably just because I miss those folks. Fortunately, we all discovered Kendrick together as well, so for the time being, I have that to be nostalgic about.
