Saw this on Monday and I will admit I was entertained. That being said, it's the type of movie that's fun to watch once but infuriating to watch it again. The characters are so poorly written with their motivations being unclear/making no sense and them constantly acting against character. I wish Zack Snyder would have watched some Coen Brothers movies or something before this because the way these scenes are constructed is so bad and none of them convey their intent in the most effective way that they could. None of the big dramatic moments work or are earned and some of them are just laughably bad.

It's so sad to watch Henry Cavil, the biggest strength of Man of Steel who was just so good at exuding a general goodness to his character, have nothing to do but scowl the whole movie.

After two movies of unimaginative destruction, I'm not looking forward to what Snyder does with Darkseid and Apokolips at all.

The fact I can say I was entertained at all is a bit of a miracle considering all the problems this movie had. I love how the thing people were most worried about (Ben Affleck) ended up being the best part of the movie. Wonder Woman was great to see. I actually liked what Eisenberg did with Luthor (for the most part). It's impossible to deny there are some cool things in this movie amidst the mess, but what a mess it is.

So I finally saw this, what a mess of a film. There were a few great moments throughout but everything felt so disjointed.

For a man called Batman versus Superman they spent little time actually developing discord between the two, they had what two interactions before their battle?

Still, excited to see a solo Batman flick, Affleck was great. (Also quite enjoyed Eisenberg as Lex)

Movie definitely cemented the idea that Jason is Joker for me.

    What makes you so certain?

The fact that Batman is so unhinged and willing to kill off petty thugs but the Joker is still alive, along with prior comments in the trailers such as "How many good guys are left? How many stayed that way?", it was a popular rumor before but it seems definite now.

People keep going on about Batman killing, he literally kills one guy in the whole movie outside the dream sequence

One is plenty enough for a man with a "code".

How do you know the Joker is still alive during this movie?

I'm pretty sure he kills multiple dudes with the Batmobile.

I thought it was kind of strange that Batman is seemingly still so unknown that he's not even referred to as Batman. Like they make a point to not call him Batman in the movie.

And that guy he kills because it's necessary to rescue a hostage. Does he say anything about a code in the movie? It's clear that this is a more "brutal" Batman than previous versions.
i guess you're probably right there

Yeah that was another thing. It's like Clark Kent is trying to do a story on this bat guy like it's a new thing but Batman has been around for 20 years.

Glad it's not just me. This guy seems to have a lot of history for people to be picking up on him/referring to him as the bat of Gotham.

Funny meme that's spoilery or whatever I guess 'cause it reveals the end of the Bats v Supes battle, though I think that was already discussed without spoiler tags in here? Anyway...

  18. Saw this last night even though I wasn't planning on seeing it ever. I really enjoyed disliking it. There were two or so jokes that I'm pretty sure were genuinely meant to be funny, yet I was the only person in the theater who laughed at them. Otherwise throughout the movie I was laughing a lot at how cheesy and lazy the dialogue was, how flashy and unnecessary some camera shots were, how abrupt most of the edits were, and how clunky and physically unbeliebable thr action was. Loved Affleck and I'll also join the small crew of people who loved Eisenberg as well. Anyone who thinks he was just playing the same role as Zuckerberg has probably only seen Social Network once, five and a half years ago.

  19. Really? I missed that

  20. There are plenty of DC storylines where Batman doesn't have the "no-kill" code. This isn't that Batman. This is a darker and more jaded Batman who may have had that code at some point but that would be entirely speculative.

  21. Snyder is one of my least favorite directors working today. He literally has no idea how to portray characters' emotions onscreen or how to let a scene linger long enough for any emotional resonance.

So if it's a darker and more jaded batman, why isn't Joker dead yet?

  23. I don't know. Can't it be possible that Batman never had a good chance to kill him?

I agree. Call me crazy, but I consider Dawn of the Dead (2004) to be his best work.
