    The sword and the faith.

Musically very strong, a lot more 'finished' and full than Get Hurt but even Gaslight knows that album wasn't quite done. And I say that as someone who loves that album and listens to it often. It does seem like it could be interpreted as a little heavier handed than some of the bands work, so maybe that's where Brian's Pantera comment comes from. I suspect there may be some tracks in the vein of 'Stay Vicious' musically yet to come. If this is where we can expect the uptempo tracks to be on the album I've got no complaints, I just hope they have room for fast and slow like all their albums have. The bridge leading to the final section of the song suggests we've got nothing to worry about there.

The effect on Brian's vocals is a little jarring for me but I've only spun it a couple times so far, so maybe it'll seem less harsh as I get into it. In a weird way I feel like he sounds like hes holding back a bit, but that could also be due to the effect/filtering.

Nothing lyrically was out of the ordinary, and was very on-brand for the band and for the track being framed in a more positive way. Its nice to see this as the 'comeback' after the dark and depths that GH was made in. That said, I really enjoyed the places Brian was going on that album, exploring his writing style and how he wanted to sound from a writing standpoint. So I hope we get some more of that, because between the structures and the Greek references and such, I was super into it.

Bring it on boys, let that album come.

Agreed with this. I can't tell if it's an effect, the mixing, or both. Brian's capable of heavy/rough vocals as well as soft, soothing ones - and my ears are detecting a mismatch here. Almost like his vocal track is from a calmer, acoustic version of the song. Musically though, it's pure Gaslight and I love it. Catchy chorus, lyrics that are wistful without being pretentious.

Hope the record has some heavier bangers on it. The guitar riffs from the intro here are promising.

I had low expectations after seeing them this past fall. But I like this song.

Bad show? Haven't gotten to see them in person but back a few years I had a co-worker who swore by their live performances.

That’s too bad. What was the reason you received low expectations?

The mix or something sounds kinda weird at first but I’ve listened like 5 times now and have gotten used to it and…goddamn what an absolute banger.

Agreed! The vocal effect is throwing me off upon the initial listen, but the song itself is great. These dudes never disappoint me. I'm sure I'll get used to the vocal effect after a few more listens though.

The overall band just lacked enthusiasm and Brian went on too many Boston rants and they were merely identical to the same ones he made the last time he was in town.

Yeah the vocal effect is really ruining this for me. It's like this got mixed by Max Bemis or something lol
