It was good. I wasn't expecting a lot of his set to be the same bits he's doing on late night talk shows and his SNL monologues since he got out of rehab though.

That's fair. I haven't been checking out those appearances at all, so it's all fresh to me. I would imagine after going through such a traumatic and healing event such as that you would want to capture that essence in your new special more than trying to come up with new, unheard material. I suppose that doesn't change much for the viewer that has kept up with him and is sort of used to them though

Watched Baby J last night. I was a little disappointed in how many of the bits had been on talk shows already. Still enjoyed it though.

  10. I've been "unplugged" for the last few months to catch up on DVDs that're piling up. Been planning on subbing to one streaming service a month depending on what I wanna watch, but with the way things are looking at HBO Max, I think I'll only keep the Disney/Hulu bundle monthly, then add Shudder and Prime as needed, as well as Peacock and Starz periodically once those promos end. My brother pays for Netflix, so that's not going anywhere.

My wife's binging the ranch right now.

What an incredibly oddly toned show? I really wish they just committed to the more seriousness and drama of the show and not sprinkle in terrible sitcom laugh track jokes for no reason. I'm not saying the show needed to be a drama, it could be funny and light hearted, but the jokes are a) terrible. B) doesn't fit in so many moments.

The show isn't terrible but it's on the cusp of being actually good. The actors are giving it their all. I like the dark lighting. Its well done.... but then for no reason the show is like, "oh wait we need a random joke...uh... I know you're scared about dying so I got you dairy queen, WHOOPS I ate some on the way sorry! Ha ha ha ha... anyways, so yeah mortality is scary and I'm a terrible father and I'm sorry"

The jokes are really really bad. 40 episoda in and not the slightest laugh.

But everything else about the show isn't bad

    Beef.

God damn that was good. I was not expecting that. I feel like the previews didn't give it justice. I thought this was going to be more of a "they both do pranks on each other and it escalates", but i loved the slow spiral of it all. It's my fault, it DID say A24 so that alone gave it credibility. Everyting about this was perfect. Pacing, acting, writing, tone, music (obv), all of it was solid. The ending was bonkers but just the right level. I've read that they COULD do more seasons but idk, it was perfect, there's no need.

Started Citadel. It’s exactly what you’d expect from the premise. Which means I’ll enjoy it just fine.

One of the supporting actors did this interview on a podcast where he basically was like “yep, I raped a massage therapist. Raped her good.” It was fucking gross and weird.
