Good strategy - kids are going to be begging their parents to spend the $20 to rent it

Same. This movie was going to make $$$ whether the reviews were good or bad. I’m surprised Miyamoto is surprised at its success though. Didn’t expect it to make $1 billion + though so that is surprising.

Google translated the new miyamoto interview

Mario has avoided setting things up as much as possible, so I was surprised that he lived with his family in Brooklyn. How was it decided?

    Miyamoto:
As something we should do in the future, we wanted Mario's family.

Originally, Mario was created with the image of a blue-collar character who is an Italian immigrant living in Brooklyn.
Since they came to America as immigrants, it doesn't make sense for Mario and Luigi to live in New York alone. I don't know if this is also my stereotype, but I had an image of a family with a lot of people eating together.

    Incredible

I love how that stereotype made it over there somehow

    Miyamoto:
Depending on the creator, I think there are various things like "I want to make something that makes you think", but Mario wants to make it a time where you can think "Oh, it was fun" . games or movies.

That's why I'd like to create a Mario game that allows the audience to be creative and enjoy trial and error, and a Mario movie that makes the audience feel happy. I think.

Exactly. That's why critics were mixed and also why it made a fuckjllion dollars

Same philosophy that went into making the games fun and easy to pick up went into making the movie enjoyable for the masses

No one went to see it because of bad reviews. What a weird comment for him to make.

I don't think he means bad reviews convinced people to see it. I think he means the reviews and the discourse surrounding them helped to keep the movie in the public consciousness.

Although there are absolutely people who will see a movie if they think it's "so bad, it's good".

Just got back from this! Me and the gf went to see it with a couple of our best buds and their kids. We all absolutely loved it!! Such a great movie, and hearing the kids in the theater gasp or point stuff out anytime something big happened on screen so was heartwarming. I already can't wait to watch at home and dissect all the shots, looking for little easter eggs haha

    Mama mia

I believe this exists and is called Super Mario Maker and has a community that would love more support, to the point where they'd pay for DLC. But, hey, gotta do Splatoon or whatever instead, lol.

...oh no, what if they make a Splatoon movie before a Kirby movie.

I think the translation is bad. I don't think he's saying he'd like to create a game like that, I think he's saying he likes to create a game like that. I mean, if you read the translation a lot of the grammar is off.
