Most of these names are new to me - I'm gonna listen to the Sons of Rainier album later today. I listened to the first few songs and really enjoyed them a lot.

 

morgan wallen is the most unremarkable shit ever. even if you put aside his moronic behavior his music is just insanely dull.

i have the misfortune of living in Indiana and most of my favorite bars being burger joints with a TouchTunes so the amount of times I've had to endure that insipid Silverado song or him sleepwalking through Cover Me Up is way too high.

 

The chorus in the new Carrie Underwood song Out Of This Truck is tremendous.

Finally got around to watching The Marfa Tapes film and I'm falling in love with the record all over again.

 

Didn’t know there was a film! Where can one watch it? Probably my most listened to album of 2022

yeah i'm tired of this trend in mainstream country music of albums being 800 hours long.

like, morgan wallen sucks so any amount of music from him is too much but two albums in a row of 30+ songs each is laughable.

 

Unfortunately it’s mostly a problem in all “mainstream” genres and it’s to juice the chart numbers since every individual song stream increases the album’s total sales equivalent units or whatever, under the new formula that incorporates streaming. Tons of super bloated hip-hop records in the last five years or so too. Record labels’ financial incentives have reversed and now they get better returns if an artist just puts every fucking halfassed track on the record since they don’t have to worry about increased cost of the physical product. At least in the CD era you had to really think you were on to something to surpass 80 minutes…

 

yeah i was gonna say, drake has been doing this for far longer in the streaming era, and then going back to 90s hip hop it was the norm

 

Any Nate Smith fans here? Love his debut album.

 

I'll be honest, I had no idea who he was until Josiah and the Bonnevilles covered one of his songs. I keep meaning to listen to him.

 

He's my favorite country artist right now. Listen to his songs What An Angel Ain't, Whiskey on You, Name Storms After, and You Only Want Me When You're Drunk.

 

Highly recommend this new album by Dean Johnson. Fully expect it to be to be near the top of my list come years end.

 

New turnpike song is classic turnpike. Cannot wait for that album to drop. Its been too long.
