How many records is too many to fit into one square of a kallax? My records are fairly tight in each square and I don't want to risk hurting them long term.

while i think i pack mine a little bit tighter than others, i personally try to leave at least a record or two worth of extra room in my Kallax squares - just so i can easily grab a record. if you have to force a record in, it's way too tight. i think it also helps that record sleeves don't sit "completely" parallel to one another when shelving them. the spines might align, but there's some wiggle room hidden behind them that you usually can't see.

edited for a few more thoughts.

Done and dusted. Canceled my Amazon order.

I’m guessing this means no re-press of Afterman until next year at the earliest.

Anyone hitting up local spots for Record Store Day this weekend?

I've never actually gone out early in the morning, but there's a lot I'm after this year, so I'm gonna bite the bullet and do it. Previous years have always just been "I'll make it sometime during the day" and if what I want is there, cool, if not, no big deal.

  8. I haven’t been out for RSD in quite a few years, but have never been the type to go very early. So I usually miss out on the 1 or 2 things I’m interested in, haha. Regardless, it’s a fun excuse to get out and support a local business. Idk about other places but in AZ stores usually offered some type of regular sale or coupon anyway, and some had live music and food trucks in their parking lots. Always nice to grieve with a group of strangers about a Paramore Ain’t It Fun 7” over some tots

I'm sure this has been asked in here before. Thinking of upgrading my Audio Technica. Want something good with some decent speakers. Maybe not bank breaking, but something decent. Where should I turn?

Also best way to make a record sound less staticky?

Looks like all of Boards of Canada's albums got repressed. I already have Music Has the Right to Children so I picked up Geogaddi. I'll hold on the others for now.

i'm also looking to upgrade my setup. I have a buddy with a killer set up that swears by this one:

Plugged into a set of Edifier speakers with Bluetooth via RCAs. It's what i'm working for and would run about $500 ish?

I hear most retailers here in Canada are getting their copies of The 1975 late (if at all). I was thinking of driving to Toronto and lining up early since I haven't done RSD downtown since 2019.

I may just hit up the store in the local mall as I had pretty good luck last year with what they got!

This is what our local store got. Got a feeling I’m gonna have to get there like two hours ahead of time. Or I’ll just cave and pay someone on eBay something terrible so I can save some time.

Is the 1975 RSD release really 10 songs on two LPs?

I’ve seen most record stores order (and receive) about 50 copies of Folklore the long pond studio sessions, but this one store I follow in Maryland has 214 copies. Yowza…

I don’t get why they pressed so few copies of it.

    Die rad.

Back in my day (hehehehe) when record store day was cool, new, and fun, we would get to the record store 8pm night before and camp out. By 3am there was already like 75 people in line so my friends and I started that tradition. Good times, but a decade later and I'll sleep in or enjoy a night of good sleep and pay the flipper price of 50% mark up.

  23. I'm going to a wedding on Saturday. Only thing I really wanted from RSD is Maya Hawke's and I'm not expecting them to sell out of those. Lowkey would've really liked the Taylor one, though, but I'm sure the actual Swifties will be camping out for those

yeah new turntable and new speakers for sure. I was thinking something around 100-200? Nothing that'll necessarily break the bank but will sound decent? If that's not unreasonable

currently I'm rocking with an audio technica lp60 I believe. I've had it since right around the pandemic. And I've got some crappy computer speakers plugged into it. Nothing great by any means.
