I watched live last night and just wanted to focus on the performance. As soon as Dammit wrapped, I fell asleep haha

But, wow! I was very worried about Tom, but overall, he did great. You could tell he prepared. Vocally, he sound a little odd her and there, but for Tom, he did great. His guitar sounded top notch. And fucking pick slides! I feel like I never hear those anymore? Are they frowned upon these days or am I just not listening to the right bands? So, yea, welcome back, Tom. I didn’t want you back, but you showed up and shut me up.

Of course Mark and Travis also killed it, too! I can’t wait to see them this summer. Going to be so sick.

That was a pretty damn solid set. The only changes I would make, personally, would be to swap out Dumpweed for Wendy Clear and take out Down for Stockholm Syndrome. I love the musical side of Dumpweed, but the lyrics are easily some of the ones that do not hold up 24 years later. I don’t think I need to explain my other swap haha!

 

Matt really made ATST and First Date actually listenable again

Also someone last night said "remember Matt trying to play Dysentary Gary" and that was one of his best (and I believe he said it was his favorite to play at one point)

I mean this was on point:

(I'm sure someone can dig up a bad example but whatever, neither Tom or Matt are pictured next to the word "consistent" in the dictionary)

I'm all in on Tom at this point but people can take Skiba era hate to IG or reddit or somewhere, idk. Like let's be positive for a day lol

 

Matt fucked up the WMAA intro a lot, I think that's what that person may have been thinking of. Not disparaging him though, that riff is hard lol

 

It’s not that hard. It’s a very simple riff. The speed is the only challenging part. Once you comfortable playing that fast, it’s pretty easy. I never played it in front of thousands of people, so me playing it great is not the same as Matt or Tom.

 

Despite Tom not being on the last 2 albums i think just ignoring this era wouldnt be in good taste. At least play bored to death and happy days

I don’t know if this was shown on the livestream, but during one of the songs the visuals had a few different song titles being spray painted on there (I think the rock show and reckless abandon), and one of them was bored to death. Thought that was a nice touch

You could really tell Tom has been putting the time/effort in. Only slurrish-gibberish was during Dysentary Gary. Really worked on his pronunciations even if it sounded odd at times.

 

Also - Skiba was there!!!

 

This is awesome! Hoping at some point he joins blink for a song live. I think people would go bananas.

Just started it, getting about 4mb a second. Archive.org is pretty slow, I think they throttle, but it's a good place to store stuff of this kind of size.

I downloaded the torrent and it went pretty fast.

 

I had good luck downloading ps3 games from there with a VPN but that didn’t help speeds with this for some reason. It was painfully slow and failed like 3-4 times but always picked up where it left off somehow.

 

I should have tried this on my computer. I was on my phone, maybe that’s why it throttled so bad?

 

3 rehearsals as a band would be crazy if it obviously wasn't cause of the injury

That being said, 10 years ago Tom would've used it as an excuse to not practice, this time he clearly put in the time to get ready without a full band. Good sign going forward

 

Watching it again right now. So good…

I’m in the other room making my bed and “feeling this” is on. If you told me this recording was from 2005, I’d believe it. Ha

 

I’m both of those in one person LOL. Im thankful to have patient friends that sometimes share my enthusiasm, while other times they just listen and embrace my excitement.

 

When the crowd sang Tom’s I Miss You verse back to him I teared right up.. then again when Tom hit the distortion and you can see Mark is totally into it and having the time of his life.
